We have stayed here in June the last two years. The Cedar Sage camping area is nice! We have tent camped each time but smaller RVs are able to stay there as well. The restroom/showers at this camping area are amazing! They are air conditioned and clean!! The park does well keeping it that way! The river is the best part! It winds through the park. A small hike or drive to the river and you can swim and float there all day. In June it has been low enough that our younger children have been able to safely swim and stand in the river. We will definitely visit again!
Cost: $20/night.
Hookups: Water, electric.
Amenities: Bath houses with showers. The grossest bath houses TD.
Additional Fees: $7/day per person entrance fee.
Hiking: Yes + river access.
Online Reservation: Yes.
Wifi / Cell Service: Wifi available in the interpretive center, but service is slow. Poor cell service in the park (Verizon).
Overall Rating: 2/5
Bathrooms: Yes, it was rainy and cold. But there was mud and dirt all over the floors and a dirty half eaten apple in the sink of the ladies room. They were kind of smelly. Overall impression of park was blah although river was pretty.
Guadalupe River State Park has 4 miles of river frontage and is located in the middle of a 9-mile stretch of the Guadalupe River. Park visitors may enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including canoeing, fishing, swimming, tubing, picnicking, hiking and camping. The park recently opened a 5.3-mile equestrian trail that is also open to mountain biking. No equestrian camping is available at the park. Opportunities also exist for less vigorous pursuits, such as bird watching and nature study.
