Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 06, 2023I found this location great for my wife’s second time out. There were enough other campers around to make her feel safe. Plenty of campsites! Bring a shovel for your bathroom. There was a good bit of trash around so we picked up most of it. Bring some firewood. Everything around us was picked clean, but there was enough small sticks to get the fire going.

Went up on a Friday morning in late June and there were plenty of spots to car camp. 4x4 is helpful, as is ground clearance, if you want to get across some unpaved roads and to some really cool spots. Went hiking on south mount elbert trail and found some great sites (rivers, lakes, water falls, aspen groves, and beaver dams). Fire ban in effect, but we still found lots of other stuff to keep busy. Highly recommend!

We stayed through the Independence Day holiday. Place was packed on the weekend, but kind of planned for that. No fires allowed, but some had to be told several times by the rangers, ugg. Verizon was decent depending on where you were. Lake was close by with dome nice trails. Nice place!

This was our first time to twin lakes and it didn’t disappoint! We were there over the 4th of July weekend so it was crowded but we expected that. I think on a non holiday weekend or definitely during the week this place would be amazing. There are quite a few spots that overlook the lakes if you can get them before everyone else. The area is beautiful. There are plenty of hikes near by and you can rent kayaks or paddle boards down at the lake.

Drive down 125 B for about 1/4 of a mile. We arrived July 5 and most of the dispersed camping was open. We got a great spot and stayed 3 nights. If you want to hike Elbert drive to the end of 125 B. Great hike. Great conditions.
