“A great place to begin!”
The National Park Service administers the national battlefield site through the Natchez Trace Parkway. Since there are no visitor facilities at the battlefield site, visitors are welcome to learn more about the battlefield at the Parkway Visitor Center, located 15 miles south of Brices Cross Roads in Tupelo, at Milepost 266 of the Natchez Trace Parkway. The Parkway Visitor Center is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving. December 25, and January 1 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Central Time).

Great pitstop. The visitor center has lots of great information about the parkway and the video is definitely worth a watch. Note if you are doing the junior ranger booklet make sure you get the correct one, the one online is not for the parkway.
Travel with American history on a drive on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Don't have the time to experience the entire route? Enjoy a section at a time. Read about the portion of the Natchez Trace between Mathison to Jackson, Mississippi.
This is a much-respected and much-beloved visitor center. There's also a small museum onsite, and the staff is very informative and friendly.
The current route closely follows the original foot passage. Its design harkens back to the way the original interweaving trails aligned as an ancient salt-lick-to-grazing-pasture migratory route of the American Bison and other game that moved between grazing the pastures of central and western Mississippi and the salt and other mineral surface deposits of the Cumberland Plateau.
Beautiful visitors center. There are informative displays, a small gift shop area and an interesting movie. The workers are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and just plain nice. Bathrooms are clean and there's a lovely nature trail so you can stretch your legs. A great stop on a great national parkway.
