“practical and peaceful”
Our hostel is located in the downtown area, and is just a short walk from Tucson's favorite restaurants, cafes, bars, art galleries, night clubs, music venues, and stores. Free shuttle rides are available throughout the downtown area which pick up and drop off right in front of the Roadrunner Hostel. Maps are available at the Roadrunner Hostel & Inn. At the Roadrunner Hostel, our mission is to make you feel at home while away from home. We take great pride in providing you with peace of mind while on your stay. We offer more than simply shelter. Here at The Roadrunner, we encourage our guests to make themselves at home in our peaceful atmosphere where they may meet interesting people from around the world.
Got in around dinner time, walked through the front door, and were confused about where to go to get our room as there was no front desk and the 2 guys we walked past didn't say anything. Turns out one of those guys worked there and he came to find us to check us in but it was all very confusing and unwelcoming since we were never greeted and had never been there before. Even the employee himself seemed confused...he sort of did a little walk-through with us and showed us to our private room—which was very noisy all night and morning. Morning was super crowded and loud in the bathrooms. Not the best sleep but at least it was a cheap lodging option in Tucson and maybe if we stayed longer we'd have had a better experience.
No air conditioning. No wifi. Change machine in laundry room out of order. Aside from that, it's a standard hostel. My primary point of contention is that the website and staff give no indication whatsoever that the dorm rooms are not air conditioned. It felt like a convection oven in there. Had this been communicated, I would have made other arrangements. Would not recommend except in cooler times of year or as an act of extreme desperation. Seriously, sleeping in my car the previous night was more comfortable. Also, the ceiling fan squeaked like a couple of gerbils were getting busy on an old iron bed. A really tiny one. Even with earplugs, the sound was maddening. Very disappointing experience. But it's cheap!
