Spoke with manager. He provided us a town order. No RV Overnights due to COVID 19. Not sure how long it will be in effect for. He provided info that the Trinidad Police Department would let us stay in their lot. Just called the PD and provided our plate. Nice quite spot!

After reading the previous review, we were concerned we wouldn't be able to park due to COVID restrictions. Called ahead (as we always do no matter what) to see if they were allowing over night parking and we were told they were! When we arrived there were about 3 other RVs and 2 semis and others rolled in as it got later in the day. We arrived about 7pm and had plenty of room to park. The Walmart is currently closing at 8:30pm so the parking lot got fairly quite pretty quickly. Not bad for an overnight stay! We did feel safe even though it is very close to the highway.
Note: Truckers like to park on the access road and walk into the Walmart and then they take their carts all the way to the end of the parking lot (where all the overnight RVers are parked), take their groceries out and just leave the carts. So beware of carts flying into your rig, especially on a windy day!

3/26/2021 We parked on the far east side of the parking lot. Called ahead of time. Permission granted. Not fancy but felt safe and it felt great to stop for the night. About 4 other rigs there that night.

Colorado has a homeless problem and the Trinidad Walmart is no exception. If staying the night around people who live in their cars makes you nervous, then this is not the place for you. Having said that, we were fine and no one bothered us... But there are much nicer Walmarts to boondock at.

Overall a great spot for a quick overnight. However, I have a message for the low life scum Motorhome people who put their trash in a shopping cart and left it in the parking lot. This gives all RV people a bad name and provides cause for Walmart to shut us out. If I would have seen you do this nasty action, I’m afraid your low life ass would still be laying next to your trash! THINK!!!

We were passing through Trinidad and saw the Walmart on Campendium as a parking spot . We called the store and ask if it was OK to spend the night. They said no problem stay at the end of the parking lot. Parking lot was clean & we were able to stay in a level spot. Many other campers came during the night. Great place to stop over. Stocked up on groceries also while we were there. They were doing new road construction on I 25. Making an exit ramp. It was a little difficult getting to Walmart due to the construction but in short time it’ll be easy to get off and get right on the frontage road.

Please let Walmart management know that you appreciate their hospitality, more and more locations refuse overnight campers now. The only downside to this location is it's proximity to the interstate, which can be noisy at times, mostly the truckers exiting the highway using their engine brakes. And the limited space for overnighter's.. who are supposed to park on the outside perimeter only. Private security enforces this limitation. I arrived at 8:15pm and found the last available spot.
