This is just north of Trinidad. It's owned by the Miner's Union. It's easy to get to off I-25. Right next to some train tracks and the train came through a couple times the night I was there. Not a big deal for me.
There are picnic benches. There are plagues telling the story of the memorial. The parking lot is pretty big.
There is a donation box but I'm on a very fixed income, so instead I picked up all the trash in the parking lot and took it with me. There are no garbage containers there.
Not sure if Walmart will let you do overnight in Trinidad but this place will.
Nice memorial and large open parking area.
About a mile off I-25 and close to train tracks.
Was quiet with a couple overnight trains. No big deal. Easy access and would stay here again.
Nice big flat paved parking lot. No issues with noise or people. We were the only ones there. It is next to a train track and we did hear several , but that did not bother us. We did put a donation in the box.
Great place to stay the night. Pretty quite minus the train, but it wasn’t too bad.
We stopped here because of the nice reviews and thought it would be better than the Walmart in Trinidad. Very nice place with a lot of history. After visiting the displays and memorial, we settled in for the night. At 11 pm, we were awakened by flashing lights and a loud “SHERIFF” over the bullhorn. Then a knock on the door. We were informed that it was a memorial and he was always running people off. After apologizing and explaining that we found it on this app, I assured him that I would review this spot accordingly. Also, a posted sign might save him some overnight visitors in the future. All said, it would have been a great spot otherwise.
