The Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad (POTB) is a shortline railroad in northwestern Oregon in the United States. Purchased from the Southern Pacific Transportation Company in 1990 by the Port of Tillamook Bay, the railroad was used to transport lumber and agricultural products over the Northern Oregon Coast Range between the Oregon Coast and the Portland area until heavily damaged in a 2007 storm. The Port of Tillamook Bay began operating the unincorporated railroad on March 27, 1986, but the tracks were originally constructed by Oregon judge George R. Bagley and others in 1906. The railroad's main line is between Hillsboro and Tillamook.

Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on June 20, 2023We were just traveling along the Oregon coast, parking the RV (37' class A) in the free and cheap spots while we check out parks by car for future family adventures.
We had this beautiful quiet park all to ourselves.
Huge roomy spaces for $12
No hook-ups, showers, laundry, cable or internet.
There is water, flushing toilets, picnic tables, fire rings with grill, plenty of tent spaces.
The back of the park is surrounded by trees and thick under brush, so protected from the wind. Very green, clean, well maintained park.
AT&T LTE 3 bars.

There aren't a lot of surprises about this place, it is a spacious campground with long back-in sites. There are no amenities except for flush toilets and a water spigot inside the bathrooms. We arrived in October and it was empty but for one other camper during the week and had about 7 others on Friday night. There were large parts of the campground that were flooded out with standing water, but this wasn't an issue with how few people were there. The nearby airstrip sees very little traffic, and the Air Museum inside the old US Navy blimp hangers is really neat.
The biggest downside about this place is the price, $15 for no amenities is fine for being inside a national or state park, but for an open field next to an airfield it seemed a bit steep. Also the hut that you drop the payment slips into looked deserted through the window and had busted old furniture inside it, this may not be the case during the busier summer months however but it was strange. We never saw anyone come to collect the fees during our week there.
It is very easy to find and conveniently located near Tillamook.

This is a flat, grassy field with level gravel sites. No hookups but several water spigots nearby and flush toilets near the fee station at entrance of tiny airport. Only 7 sites occupied and no road noise from hwy 101. We loved it here..so much to see and do in the area! Great, cheap, quiet camping!

This site provided a quiet and great place to spend the night. It’s about 5 minutes to downtown and provided level gravel sites with a picnic table at most. No hookups, but had decent security lighting without being too bright and just offered an overall good experience. They have a self-service kiosk to check in if you make it in late. We would probably have done the Harvest Hosts / Free Parking down the road if we would have made it there before they closed, but this was a great alternative. Pet friendly if you are responsible with your pet (clean up and keep them on leash). The only thing they could have done to make it better was make it a few buck cheaper. $10 seems about right, but still a great campsite.

We stopped here for a week and it was delightful. The views of the surrounding hills with the fog was amazing and even though we came during a rainy week, it was still a pleasant place. Most people stop for a night or two and move on. There are some blackberry brambles if you happen here when they are ripe. The airport is quiet. They actually harvested the corn fields near the campground while we were here and that was louder than the planes, which were few and far between. It's a small airport. There are a ton of birds and we even saw some snakes and rabbits after they harvested their corn field home.
The pads are gravel and raised, so even during the rain the puddles don't rise up to the RVs. We left our bikes and other gear outside and felt it was safe. It was.
There are two possibly longer term residents, but they are quiet and their camp areas are very tidy.

We stayed here several years ago when it was free, but now they have upgraded the bathrooms and added 2 potable water spigots in the park to fill your fresh water tank. Nice, level, gravel spots in a grassy area next to the airport. Lived off our solar and generator on one rainy day. Still a nice little park.

We stayed here for a week during our trek down the 101. It's in a great location to explore Tillamook and the Oregon Coast. It's $15 a night, and you pay by dropping the money into an envelope and into a slot like a dropbox. There doesn't seem to be anyone actually managing the place.
The airport remained busy the entire time we were there. It wasn't really annoying, it was kinda cool seeing all the aircraft. We saw everything from piper cubs and private jets, to chinooks and navy aircraft! Sprinkle in some paramotors and you pretty much have your own personal airshow!
Todo in Tillamook:
⭐️ walk for miles along Cannon and Crescent Beaches at low tide
⭐️ get snacks at Beachside Bakery
⭐️ get corndogs at The Original Pronto Pup
⭐️ tour the Tillamook Air Museum
⭐️ tour the Tillamook Creamery
⭐️ Cape Lookout State Park
⭐️ Cape Meares Lighthouse and Octopus Tree
⭐️ Hike to Blumenthal Falls
Tillamook was such a fun little town and we had such a blast exploring the area!
The only reason we didn't give this 5 stars was because of the constant smell of cow crap! It was seriously bad, and I grew up in TX around cows! I don't know what they feed these cows, but the smell is something fierce.

Boondocking. It sits right outside the small Airport but surprisingly, it's quite. It's $15 a night self paying station, the have 2 bathroom but are closed do to CV-19 but does have a fresh water spigot. Level sites with plenty of room between each site, go rest area for the night. Bring cash because it doesn't take CC and the funds go to the Port of Tillamook. Enjoy safe travels and you can get analog TV 30 channels.

This first-come basis campground is owned by the county and is adjacent to the tiny county airport. For fifteen bucks (cash only), it offers a clean and safe place to unhook and explore the area. The lifted gravel pads are long enough for big rigs and are flat and level. Other than a picnic table, a fire ring, and 2 water spigots to top off your tank (they are threaded), that's what you get. It is close to 101 and a few miles from downtown Tillamook. The sites are well separated, and the registration is the simple self-pay envelope in the slot, located at the airport gate. In my 3 night stay, I've only observed a handful of active planes, 2 of them were ultralights doing some night flying which was a blast to watch.
For an overnight stop or a boondocker's basecamp, I feel this place offers fair value.
There is a cheese factory in town that generously offers free camping for a night or 2, but it is right on 101 and they have a no unhooking the trailer policy.
