“on the northern flank of the Tehachapi Mountains”
Brite Valley Lake is a speck of a water hole (90 acres) on the northern flank of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, at an elevation of 4,000 feet. No gas motors are permitted on the lake, so it’s perfect for canoes, kayaks, or inflatables. No swimming is permitted. Use is moderate, primarily by picnickers and anglers. The lake is stocked with trout in the spring and catfish in the summer. Other species include bluegill. A golf course is nearby. There are 12 sites with partial hookups (20 amps) for RVs of any length and a tent camping area. Picnic tables and fire grills are provided. Drinking water, restroom with flush toilets and showers, dump station, playground, picnic pavilions (available by reservation), and fish-cleaning station are available. Supplies are available about eight miles away in Tehachapi. Leashed pets are permitted. From Bakersfield, drive east on Highway 58 for 40 miles toward the town of Tehachapi. Take the Highway 202 exit and drive three miles west to Banducci Road. Turn left and drive for about one mile to the park on the right.
