“a timeless hamburger recipe”

In the early 1850's my GREAT GREAT GRAND FATHER was raising a Family in South Philadelphia. He worked for a local meat packing plant and while working one day he created a mizture of ground beef for a Hamburger that is still the same recipe that we use today at DANNY'S. A DANNY'S BURGER starts with mayonnaise and mustard spread on the bun bottom, several crunchy hoops of raw onion follow, onto wich is plopped ketchup, whose sweetness deactivates the sting of the onion. The ketchup is covered with dill pickle slices, their puckery tang balances the sweetness below. Next come the thick slices of beefsteak tomato, echoing the ketchup, then a large mound of shredded lettuce. The grilled HAMBURGER PATTY is set on top of the tower of garnishes and condiments so its juices seep down through them (cheese and other menu items are popular options above the beef). Finally the bun top is applied. This recipe has stood the test of time and DANNY'S hopes that your BURGER experience will bw a "TASTY ONE".

My boyfriend and I visited last week and loved their food. This little roadside diner offers typical American food such as greasy burgers, onion rings, fries and hotdogs. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and boyfriend got the triple D. We were not disappointed with what we had. I just loved everything that was packed between two pressed Cuban bread. The combination of slow roasted pulled pork, salami, baked ham, capicolla, cheese, dill pickles was simply awesome. I fell in love with every bite. The triple D ws just the bomb! The serving was really huge. It was quite pricey but it was definitely worth it. The pork and the pastrami were tender and full of flavor. This house specialty is a must order when visiting this diner.
