And the cottonwood and oak trees around the edges of the campground helped reduce the constant north wind. The sites were fairly widely spaced, but each power post/faucet had two sides--one on gravel and one on grass/weeds. We picked the grass side of our site because it was a little more level, but we could still put the truck on the downhill side because we weren't unhooking the trailer. This would probably be a great park for fall or spring camping with its two campgrounds, a lake for fishing and boating, a marina, a golf course, and a general store. There was some noise from the nearby highway and very few OTA TV stations. But for us, it just worked well as a brief stop on a long, cold Texas plains night.

Once we arrived at the campground I remembered I had forgotten to stop at the municipal golf course to check in. It was not far from the campground, but it's a good thing we didn't get set up first - it is not within walking distance.
The golf course has a suspension bridge near the clubhouse that looks nice from far away but on closer inspection you can't walk across it, although I'm sure in the past you would have been able to. The staff at the golf course are so nice and friendly.
Once we drove back to the campground we couldn't figure out where to park - the sites are somewhat haphazard - just find one you like and hook up (water and electric only). This is fire ant season so ants were everywhere - be sure to bring some insect repellent because mosquitos were also flying around. Most sites are fairly level and pull-through.
We did not find the dump station but were told it was near the restrooms near the entrance. We also did not find the lake - there are no views of the lake from the campground as far as we could tell. We did get out and walk around a bit and saw an amphitheater that was very run-down.
The location itself could use some work but I'm sure being a municipal facility, funds are tight. The price at $15 is about what I would expect to pay for a location like this.
There are no restaurants nearby because the location is pretty remote. Bring food to prepare with you.
We ran our fan all night because it was a little warm making it difficult to determine the noise level. The campground is located close to the road.

We overnighted here on our way from NM to Dallas. 4 miles off the interstate, it was a quiet spot to stay. Plenty of space between sites and plenty of pull throws so you don’t have to unhook. 30/50 amp and water at each site that had connections. Dump is next to the stone bathrooms close to the entrance. Park is laid out a little odd but if you take a quick look around you’ll be able to tell where the individual sites are. Nice gentleman came by around 9 am the next morning and collected our $15. There were 4 other rigs in the park but we were the only overnighters. We stayed in a 36 ft 5th wheel in late August. Definitely would stay again.

Spent one night here on my way west....it was very hard to figure out the camping spots! I finally just pulled up next to an electric and water post and settled in. It's $15 for water and electric.
I was hoping to see the lake but the campground in behind the dam, you have to walk or drive. It's not far but it was super windy.
It was very quiet. Only a few others were there for the night.
A man came by in the evening and collected the $15 (no cards!)

We called the phone number at the entrance and were told to come to municipal golf course to pay cash or check for$15. Only a couple of other campers. Great bargain for price. Also has dump station. Downsides are very low verizon reception and bathrooms could use some love.

A little confusing but large enough for large rig. We were able to find a pull through . They had a nice care taker that took camping fees that saved us a trip to golf course to pay. It was quiet and nice place to walk around and exercise the dog

The campground was almost empty on a Wednesday night in late July. We pulled in, parked and the camp host came over to collect our fee. Cash or check only. Harrell, the host, is a big, burly, very nice biker looking dude. The sites are dirt and some are more level than others.Great electricity, all we used. No water or sewer on our site.Good ATT service. On my morning walk I saw Vermilion Flycatcher, Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, Mockingbird, Finches, Whitetailed Dove, Curve-Billed Thrasher, numerous sparrows, Cardinals, a Pyrrhuloxia(?),and my husband saw woodpeckers. There is an old stone amphitheater across the creek that was visually appealing. 3 miles or so to town.

Stayed here while passing through the area. Very quiet night. The Camp host was not there when we arrived but he he came over after we came back for payment. They only take cash or check. 50/30/20 amp service and water at site. BBQ grill and picnic table also. Dump station on the way out. Some sites not level.

This campground is a no-frills location with easy access to US-20. Perfect for a couple days stay or an overnight stop. Sites have 50amp/30amp connections, water, and picnic table. Campground is right down the road from Lake Sweetwater access for swimming, boating, etc.
Location was clean and quiet and there is a Camp Host on location who will come around and collect the $15 fee for hook ups/ $10 dry camping. This is West Texas , so it's hot....pay the extra $5 for hookups :)
