Can be hot in the summer - we were there in early June and it was beautiful. The ride on the trail is quite pleasant with good scenery.

Spent four night here last week. Easy 4 mile drive on good gravel road form Hwy 44. Can also access for Hwy 36 but longer drive with more grades.
Due I expect to Cover-19 there was only one other trailer camper there when we arrived and they left next day so had place to ourselves expect for some tent campers at the far end of the campground that we never saw.
Our Campsite was right on the river bank and the Bizz Johnson Trail go by the edge of camp. It is a repurposed railroad with of way that is great for walking, horse or biking. You can look it up online for details. We rode 8 miles towards Susanville one day which is all down hill so the 8 mile ride back was some work. After a rest day we rode uphill the other direct seven miles and them coasted back to camp.
The campground is only about a 30 minutes drive to Susanville so was easy to head to town for supplies.
The campground water was turned off but assume that is just a seasonal thing. A single pit toilet is located on the edge of camp at the trail head.
We will go back but expect this small campground may often be filled. There did appear to be other boon docking sites in the area bu not on the river.

No one here on a Sunday. Very warm. Maybe .8 sites right along the river. Unfortunately no useable Verizon.2 bars boosted but very slow and unreliable Dirt/gravel road in very smooth and mostly flat until it down to river.. We’re in a cabover camper. Wouldn’t take a trailer much over 20 feet. Perfect place to chill. I had 3 bars the first couple miles then nothing.
