“Where the "Sundance" Kid got his name”

Where the "Sundance" Kid got his name, have your picture taken with him. Visit our free Crook County Museum and see the Sundance Territorial jail and courtroom furniture used during his trial and 18 month sentence. Sundance offers over 125,000 acres of national forest where hiking, biking and horseback trails abound. Take a short drive to eight courses, several excellent trout streams, and Keyhole Reservoir. About the Sundance Kid: Harry Alonzo Longabaugh (1867 – possibly November 6, 1908), better known as the Sundance Kid, was an outlaw and member of Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch, in the American Old West. Longabaugh likely met Butch Cassidy (real name Robert Leroy Parker) after Parker was released from prison around 1896. Together with the other members of "The Wild Bunch" gang, they performed the longest string of successful train and bank robberies in American history. -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sundance_Kid

Cute little town. We didn't see the museum that others wrote about. We had a little difficulty finding the Sundance Kid statue, but it ended up being right next to the little diner we wanted to eat at. So, all in all, nice little quick stop, but nothing to plan your day around.

Super neat museum behind the statue. Kids love taking pictures with the statue and enjoyed the museum. It was not on when we went but there is a splash pad too. Clean and fun.

Cute place to stop and see a museum, $10 an adult but clean bathrooms and a park with a splash pad for kids. Also, statue is on the corner of the park! A good rest stop for us!

Pretty cool piece of history. Not really worth going way out of your way for unless you’re on your way to Devils Tower.

Wife and I enjoyed the town. Lots of little bars and a Subway. Original jail is gone, but one is still available to tour from the early 1900's.
