Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on August 29, 2022Georgia state parks are always so well done, if a little bit on the expensive side. This one is no exception. Sites are a large and level - only a few had slight inclines. A mixture of back-in and pull-through. Water/electric only, some 50amp but mostly 30amp. No sewer, but a dump station and several places to dump sink water throughout the campground. Nightly rate is $33, but you have to pay a $5/night parking pass, unless you buy a GA State Park pass. It's really only worth buying the pass if you're going to camp in GA several times a year. Verizon signal was good. Lots of walking trails and a lake with fishing and canoe/kayak rentals.

This state park is in Summerville, Georgia. We really enjoyed it. You make reservations ahead of time so you know exactly where you will be camping. We reserved site #12. It was just fine for a nice quiet and private stay. It was a pull-through near the newly renovated bath house.
The colors are extremely vivid in the fall with all the hardwoods. We enjoyed the 1.6 mile hike to the reflecting pool called the Marble Mine Trail. It was so quiet and you could almost imagine the Native Americans around the pool doing whatever they needed to in their daily tasks hundreds of years ago.
By the way, James Floyd was from Chattooga County, GA and served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1953-1974. His nickname was given to him back in his high school days while playing football. He was very thin and his jersey was always flopping in the wind, so his coaches called him "Sloppy".

This was our first campground in our new Winnebago trailer! This is a very nice park in northwestern Georgia, near Summerville. Most sites looked to be pull through, gravel sites, with a good amount of space between sites. Ours was facing the woods so we had lots of privacy. All sites seemed to have ample shade from the plentiful trees. The bathrooms were near by, clean, and nice. There are some good hiking trails that meander past a lake and through the woods. We spent some time exploring as a family. Beautiful park!
Summerville is a pleasant little town very close by with some food options and grocery store and a nice downtown area with little shops. We ate one night at Jefferson's Restaurant in Summerville, it was pretty good pub-type food and we had some good fried oysters there.
We'll definitely be back to James H Sloppy Floyd State Park.

I have to comment on the Park manager, David, I had gotten lost by following the GPS, and he was concerned that I hadnt shown up. He called me and guided me out of my lost in the woods nightmare. He also waited over an hour for me to finally pull in,. He was so kind and gracious to me. He knew I was upset and was shaken. He reassured me that everything was good. On my backroad your trip I tore my jack up, so he and campground volunteer, Bruce repaired my hitch. Now where can you get that much personal care? But a wonderful as they were the park is just as amazing. The sites are groomed and landscaped, the lake is beautiful, hiking trails in great shape, need I saw more! My only regret is I don’t have longer to stay. Thanks you David and Bruce🏕🛶🌲

Camp ground roads are a bit tight but manageable. Very hilly. Campground was very clean. Bath house was clean, but could use a little updating. Camp ground was super quiet, campers polite. ATT service in our site was minimal to non-existant. Not enough connectivity to use the laptop or stream TV.

Very nice quiet park. Narrow windy roads approaching the park and inside the campground but doable.
Sites are very well maintained with several pull through options.
Water pressure wasn’t great but other than that no complaints. Access to nice trails right from the campground
