We really enjoyed our stay over Labor Day weekend at Buckhorn Campground (Loop C). Very clean site, nice camp fire ring/grill. We were located across from the Amphitheater where the park ranger did a presentation one evening. We had access to 30 amp and water. Only complaint was the site (and most that I can tell) were not level. Ours was pointed down where the front tires on our Class A would lift off the ground in order to be level. Site 53C was just a short walk from the swimming beach, which was nice. Just far enough that there wasn't a crowd bothering us, but close enough to walk there. Campground is on the otherside of where the springs are located, so if your kids want to goto the cold springs, be prepared to drive 15 mins around the lake to go swimming there. It was an enjoyable experience though and would return.

We are traveling in our new 37’ Fusion Toyhauler verses our truck and camper. We are now height, length and width conscious. We were able to maneuver pretty well.

It appears that all sites in Loop C must be reserved ahead of time. At each site there is a sign stating that, along with a website and phone number. Cell service is good, so I guess you can reserve from your site. Some sites have water and power, some were 30 amp and others were 50 amp.

Loop D was first come first serve, some with water and power, some were 30 amp, some were 50 amp, others were dry. We selected site 95, it was long, tall and wide. You pay at a machine after you select your site.

There are hiking trails, a nature center, streams, lakes and springs in the area. We spent a day checking those out. We also checked out the Chickasaw Cultural center.

We found the area beautiful and both camp host volunteers were very nice and informative.

We gathered up the family and took the kids to Sulphur for a couple days of fun. Getting there from I-35 is easy and does not take very long passing through Davis and then Sulphur. The campground is ~15 minutes from Highway 7 and 177. The road off 177 is paved but a bit bumpy and has many short, steep rolling hills to the campground.

The campground Itself is well maintained and all loops descend to Lake of the Arbuckles. We were on Loop C on the west side (first part) where there are a few 30 amp and water hookups. The east side of this loop, or most of the rest, seem to be 50 amp. Had to use two levels of blocks on the driver side to even the trailer but not a problem. I have a 22' and with the truck we barely fit in the site (phew!)...but, I think I might've picked the shortest hookup site? Looked like it anyway!

It's either a short walk to the lake, or you're right on it on a few sites. The lake is pretty clear and the sunsets on the shore are terrific. There is a bathroom/shower facility in each loop. The closest one to us was Loop D's, but still not far at all.

The main area of the Chickasaw NRA is fantastic. Oklahoma up until recently had gotten quite a bit of rain so the springs and creeks were really flowing. The swimming areas along Little Niagara near the Travertine Nature Center were perfect and had lots of waterfalls to play on and swim around. The Nature Center had a nice Junior Ranger program, too. Also, don't miss Bromide Hill in the morning or evening. It offers a great view of Sulphur and the surrounding area. Other areas to note are the Chickasaw Cultural Center which has interesting things like dances at 11 and 2, museums, and a pretty good cafe that is fairly inexpensive.

Great trip and we will definitely make it back.

Picking a spot took some time as most of the sites are not level. It rained the entire time we were here which was a let down because of the beautiful view out to the water. We spent most of our time inside our rig.
Sadly, when we went to the restrooms early in the morning (it was still dark) they were locked and had a sign saying to use the family restroom. When we got to the family restroom there was no light inside. Yikes. Thankfully we had flashlights.
Maybe our stay here would have been better if it were a different season.

Beautiful lake and well maintained camping grounds. Tent camping and Rv camping is mixed throughout, but there is plenty of room between sights which gives plenty of privacy.

We've camped at a few places so it wasn't our first experience but definitely worst so far. Beautiful grounds but the campers here are very inconsiderate, disrespectful and rude making alot of noise non stop including a barking dog crying baby, drunk partying college kids, teens and other unsupervised kids as well as adults walking almost into our site to access their boat to go fishing at 8pm, amidst at least 3 loud radios playing rap, tejano and hip hop all day and night. We drove over 3 hrs to get there, setup camp, ate some hotdogs and tried to enjoy peace and quiet and a little privacy only to be subjected to childish, inconsiderate, loud idiots who caused us and another family to pack up and leave before 9pm. The woman in the golf cart whose job is to enforce rules, if they have any, failed to try to keep anyone quiet and there are no signs either. There also is no cell service there so if there's an emergency you're screwed. We wont return and recommend saving your money and camping elsewhere.

We stayed 2 nights at Buckhorn Campground loop D. Loop D was available as first come first serve for all sites. According to the website loop C also should've been first come but all the sites said reservation required. We had good neighbors who weren't too loud and the park was fairly empty this time of year. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The showers have solar heated water which produced a perfect temperature water. They are on a timed cycle.

We weren't able to find a ton of stuff to do this time of year (march). The streams had high levels of bacteria and recommended not swimming. The mineral springs were basically dry. The lake had mean looking geese surrounding the swim area. The nature center at the north side of the park was very nice and a good place to spend an hour or two. The sunsets were beautiful, and being under the trees was nice. The camp host was very friendly and supplied free fire wood to everyone. Some spots were tight for us to back into with our 16ft trailer and many were not very level but nothing we couldn't handle. It wasn't a big deal for us to level the trailer.

This is just a review of the Buckhorn campground. There’s loops A-D. I personally have only ever stayed at loop C and loop D. Last year we stayed in loop D. It is mostly tent sites with only a handful of RV sites. To my knowledge none of the RV sites in D have sewer hookups. Just water and electric. The bathrooms/bathhouse is super nice, and CLEAN. Loop D has a great swim beach as well.
This last weekend we took our new RV and stayed in loop C. Site 81. It is the first part of January so it wasn’t full by any means but there were more folks there than I expected to see. Our site was good, but there are better views at other ones. If you look at my photos I labeled what I thought were the best sites for a water view.
The only RV slip that I saw with sewer hook up in loop C was the camp host site, for obvious reasons.
I was really impressed with how well thought out the handicap accessible sites were. I give the designer major kudos for that.
AT&T cell service sucks, but when you go camping you’re supposed to relax and not spend all your time on your phone anyway.
This is one of my top 5 campgrounds in Oklahoma.

Arrived and got a great site on the lake. Green grass to play on, lake to swim in, and armadillos! Bathrooms were clean but very warm during day. Showers were solid. Enjoyed hiking the trails in the rec area.
