Nice dispersed campsite with few people around, on a nice reservoir. Good Verizon service. But it is near about a million cows in a field about 1/2 mile from here, so hopefully the wind will be in your favor.

Apparently a while before we arrived there had been rain which made for very deep dried ruts in the roadway after entering the parking area. We went left past the 2 covered picnic table areas which were apparently being used even though no vehicles were there, and pulled down to the end. The lake was muddy, the shoreline full of smelly lake weed, and dead fish, and there was a lot of trash which we picked up some. Although we enjoyed a relaxing evening watching the sun set and the moon rise, our evening after going to bed was disturbed by 2 vehicles who were NOT camping reaving up their engines as they spun down and around our camper. Did not make us feel safe! Sleep was sporadic after that and that morning the smell, flies and bugs pushed us into a hasty departure.

Nice lake, muddy bottom but water looks clear and is refreshing. Lots of spaces depending on how people park. There are lake front spots and behind those are grassy areas where you can park several rigs deep if you can get there in your vehicle. The grassy area has millions of little flies, I'm guessing from the cows, they are annoying and will get all in your RV; park closer to the water and on the dirt to minimize the flies.

There is a restroom that is nothing more than an outhouse but it's there. No facilities, no trash containers. Can be extremely busy on weekends I arrived on Friday before noon and there weren't many spots left.

Area is VERY dirty, dust in the air as people drive by is bad too. Camp fires allowed in designated areas only. Can be noisy depending on the time of your visit, weekends more than weekdays. I happened to be there on a convention weekend of some sort, lots of loud music with the event.

Take County Lane 21, NOT County Lane 20 which smells awful from the cow farms. This place would be so perfect if not for the flies and smell, it's tolerable for a few days.

We stayed all labor weekend. To get there you pass through huge cattle operation, so that was concerting especially reading the previous review. But we were lucky the wind was blowing the other way and maybe twice we got a slight smell of cattle. It was pretty busy due to holiday weekend. but the locals that come here were beyond friendly they even took us on their boat! I mean being that we’ve been boondocking all over the country this is truly a gem! Being parked by the water. With gentle breeze it was incredible. The gas station 5 min away has a dump station and potable water all for $10. Would totally come back! Also it’s safe to fish! The water is murky due all the clay in the bottom and probably all the motorboats activities. But so refreshing! One negative would be there is a good amount of broken glass on the beach, we would pick all that we came across on our morning/evening walks but I would suggest wearing shoes at all times

Had to hang around Colorado for an event, that’s why 14 days. There are no designated spots but you can see the remains of fire pits. Very quiet. Only a few campers during the time here and they stayed well away as .there is about a quarter mile of open space to camp. Most were one nighters but a couple stayed a few days. Sheriff drove through a couple of times. A few bank fisherman each day, but I never saw anything caught. Felt very safe. Now for the meat- it is pretty clean, a little trash in the fire pits but considering no care taker, not bad. The beach is sand and gravel, not a Destin FL sugar sand beach. There were a lot of flies but after a cold snap they disappeared. Driving in from Ordway you pass a cattle feed lot and it can stink very bad so keep the windows up. Once at the lake you may get an occasional light aroma and that was only in the morning around 8. If you enjoy solitude, this is a great spot and if you fish, bring spinning gear or surf rods. This is a huge lake and everyone said it is full of catfish.

We stopped here around midnight in October just to get some sleep before we continued our trip. There were only a couple others there and plenty of space to spread out. Dirt spots with lots of areas where the ground is not level and you can tell people had gotten stuck in the mud. If it rained, I imagine it wouldn’t be too hard to get stuck.

There is a strong smell of cattle poop there because there’s a cattle feeder right next door. It was bad enough for us that we locked ourselves in the trailer all morning until we left.

The lake is really pretty and from the car on our way out, we saw lots of birds.

We did not try to use the bathrooms, but there was some there.

Access: It was easy to access.
You need to enter “boy ramp lake Meredith sugar city” in google maps to get to the actual campsites, otherwise you’ll be routed to another part of the lake. You want to take the 96 East, then south on county lane 21

The first day I was there it was very windy and there was a guy out on the lake para-sailing. Pretty cool.

The next day the winds died down and the flies came out. Lots and lots of flies. There are some cattle ranches just up the road so no wonder. No smells while I was there but strange "bass" sounds at night.

I felt safe. Not a bad place for a free stop over. I wouldn't use the vault toilet. Not even the flies would go near it.

The end of the road has barbed wire up now, so you can't make it to the reservoir. Henrys Lake IS open for dispersed camping.

We stayed here just one night on April 1, 2021. Its a spacious site, plenty of room for a dozen campers. AT&T service was at least 3/5 for me with decent download speeds. Its not the kind of place to stay a week but its great for a night's rest. You will likely smell or see cows so you've been warned. We woke up to one 5 feet from our door. No problems with the cows though.

There's a single vault toilet present.
