“Historic two-story hotel in Texas!”
In 1910, a small town was developing in West Texas. Sterling City was being made into a community of friendly townspeople from ranching and the railroad. The bank was located in the original hotel building, which later housed two doctor offices for Dr. Everett and Dr. Swann. With the housing of the doctors came a pharmacy, confectionary and a hotel. The 1910 State Hotel in Sterling City is a historical two story building in downtown Sterling City, TX. It originally housed The First State Bank of Sterling City and The State Hotel. Over the years it was home to doctor’s offices, the telephone company, post office, city hall, and E.B. Butler’s drugstore. Even a few restaurants have called this beautiful historic building home, such as The Landmark Café. In 2012, TrinaBeth Johnson, whom was born and reared in this small community, had a vision for the old building. Her vision of saving a part of the past for our future families began. As a young girl, who had spent time at the hotel mostly in the confectionary, she purchased the building and started the major project of remodeling it. After 8 months, the 1910 State Hotel opened May 1, 2013.
