“lakeshore love!”
Campers won't believe their good fortune when they arrive at Starkville KOA, right on the sandy shores of Oktibbeha County Lake. Enjoy the pavilion, 'porch' swings and picnic tables scattered under leafy trees. One mile from US 82, this KOA is minutes away from Mississippi State University and downtown Starkville which has wonderful small town charm. Nature lovers and birders can head south to the Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. Max pull thru: 80 feet. *The water park and lake are currently closed due to lake maintenance and low water level. We are sorry for the inconvenience!*

Close to Starkville/MSU so that’s a good thing if you’re a Bulldog fan.
But…it’s KOA priced without real amenities. The sites are level - a little close but not as crowded as many campgrounds. The power and water are a-okay.
The playground is small and the lake that is on maps and the website unfortunately had to be mostly drained so you won’t be swimming or fishing. It’s kind of a swamp honestly.

There are no KOA signs on 82. In fact, there is no sign until you are ready to pull into the campground. Kind of scary as you turn onto County Lake Road and almost immediately see a sign that says no tractor trailers. Hmmm. The young man who checked us in was nice enough but he knew nothing about the park. They had been getting rain – lots of it - so there were pools of water in the gravel interior roads and some sites. The sites are gravel with a short concrete pad. The pad is more of a hindrance for larger RVs as you are half on it and half off. The sites are narrow and close together. Our site was barely long enough for the MH and toad. Plus, we had to dodge a car parked half in the road – literally inches from it. Lucky us, we had the only site with a tree with scraggly branches – which got a slight trimming or they would have damaged the MH. The “deluxe” sites just have a concrete patio with some extra furniture. Nothing special. Satellite is possible in some sites. They have cable but we didn’t try it. Verizon was 4g 1-2 bars. WiFi did not work. We couldn’t even connect to it. There is some background highway noise from 82 but other than that it was pretty quiet at night. The park has water slides and a pond/lake so I imagine it is overrun with kids in the summer.
Not our kind of park.
