Check in is super easy and the folks give you a ton of information on what to see and do in the local area.
We had the best spot in the campgrounds with full hook ups and free internet ... internet was strong enough to stream shows without interruption.
The grounds are immaculate and well cared for in all aspects. Each spot has their own fire ring and outdoor grill. During the Friday through Sunday period the campgrounds was full with families and kids galore. Plenty of room for everyone to run and play without falling over each other. The remaining days there were only three of us in our end of the campgrounds and that included the full time Camp Host.
Nice areas to take a walk along the lake front as well as adjutant to the campgrounds. There is a restaurant a quick walk from the camp grounds that served your basic comfort foods. The hours vary depending on each day.
Fenced in puppy playground that everyone has kept clean for the little ones to run and play.
The nearest shopping is in Starke proper ... a super Walmart and some Mom and Pop stores. About a 15 minute drive from the campgrounds.

Hands down, the best FamCamp we have stayed at. It’s not over crowded, it’s not seasonal campers, it’s not higher ranks or full timers edging you out of a spot!
The entire base is super clean and very quiet. There are three camping areas...old RV, new RV, and primitive. In our opinion, the old RV is the best. It has mature trees, extra extra large spaces, and no bath house for the public to frequent and destroy.
The lake is beautiful. The rec center has paddle boat and kayak rentals. Dogs are only allowed in the two RV areas, and no where else. You must have a pet pass to take animals off and back on base. Both RV areas have full hookups. There is free internet and premium internet for a price. Laundry facilities stink, but you can get a couple loads done for very cheap.
A short drive away is Jacksonville, St Augustine, Gainesville, and Orlando (a bit farther). So, you can find many things to do.

We spend 9 nights in site 33 in the "new section" with a great view of Kingsley Lake. All sites have a large level concrete pad with 30/50 amp power, a double water connection and sewer. There is a wooden picnic table, grill and fire ring. This section of the campground does not have a bathhouse. Pets are allowed but, not allowed anywhere outside the campground. There is a nice fenced dog park in the older section. Verizon had 2 bars of LTE; enough to stream Amazon video. The lake is suitable for swimming, and fishing. Kayaks are available for rental at the Recreation Office. The base was quiet during the week (we heard reveille each morning at 0630 and retreat at 1700) Saturday and Sunday we heard machine gun fire while helicopters flew overhead. The base PX carries basic needs, no fresh food. There is a museum showing the history of Camp Blanding; well worth a visit. We enjoyed our stay and will likely return.

There are two RV Campgrounds at Camp Blanding; James E Johnson Memorial RV Park which is newer and is only for RV's. There are no showers or toilets in James E. Johnson. The older campground is McKenna campground which is adjacent to James E Johnson. McKenna has showers and toilets but the number of RV sites is limited. We Stayed in James E Johnson. The lakeview is of course pretty and concrete pads were relatively level and for the most part there is adequate room between sites. I was in site #7 which was very very close to site #6 and I had to reposition my rig so that I could give my neighbor enough room to use their picnic table when my slide was open. I did have to use a few blocks to level my rig. Beautiful palm trees and fairly quiet with friendly staff. I did have 1 to 2 bars of Verizon Cell coverage and for the most part was able to access the internet. We stayed 7 nights but only had to pay the price for 5 nights.
