“The history of Sawtooth Lake”
Redfish Lake, in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, is named for the brilliant Sockeye Salmon that once came to spawn in such massive quantities that the lake appeared to be red. The Redfish Center offers interpretive activities and programs, including: Daily nature walks, Jr. Ranger programs, Sawtooth Synopsis', and discovery stations; Weekend boat tours (Requires boat rental);Evening Programs and marshmallow roasts on Friday and Saturday evenings; Lectures and discussions every Friday in July and August at 8 PM. Interpretive Exhibits are rotated each month. Check out our art gallery, shop in our gift shop,watch a movie on wolverines, or upload your beautiful vacation photos on our free wi-fi! Visit our new web-cam at www.discoversawtooth.org to check on conditions before you arrive, or to reflect on your past visits to Redfish Lake! The Redfish Center & Gallery is operated in cooperation with the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, by the Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association; a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the Sawtooth-Salmon River Country through education and historic preservation.
