“Explore the beautiful red cliffs!”
Pioneer Park is located in the red cliffs on the north side of St. George. Kids love to explore the trails between red hoodoos, and there's some easy slickrock to try your beginning biker skills. Our map shows a short loop within the park that climbs onto a slickrock shelf, heads west, then returns via a slot between hoodoos to the starting point. The Pioneer Rim trail does NOT start in Pioneer Park. It goes above it. You can get to the trail from the Snow Canyon Parkway about 1/3 mile northwest of the last gravel parking area in Pioneer Park. Or you can climb up a dirt doubletrack to intersect the trail right in the middle. Or, you can drive to the parking lot at top of the hill on the parkway and try to find your way south to the trail. "Pioneer Park" is used to refer to two trails: Pioneer Rim, an advanced-technical trail skirting the cliff-edge above Pioneer Park, and a short trail within Pioneer Park itself that features a beginner's taste of slickrock.
Great place to stop and let the kids run around on a long road trip. It was beautiful and the kids loved "exploring". Close to the interstate and good bathrooms.
We loved this park, it is big and have super cool red boulders - my 8 yr old was so excited and got out some energy! We also we able to take some beautiful pictures. Well worth the stop!
Watched an amazing sunset with an easy two minute walk after parking in the upper lot. Gets even better once the sun goes down and the stars come out. Wait patiently for an hour or more for glimpse into the heavens.
Take you kids here. They will love to explore this park. It’s a outdoor playground set in the center of town. You climb, crawl, scamper, scramble, slide, and all the other things. Feel like a kid climbing rocks and looking over ledges. Just keep an eye on the kids. You’re pretty high up there. 😉
Great place! Easy to explore! Highly recommend!
Great well kept park and garden! Really enjoyed learning about local plants and animals while exploring!
This is a lovely little gem situated about 30/40mins outside of Zion’s main entrance. It sits next to an awesome desert garden I highly recommend walking through, too.
The cliffs and crevices are lovely, the datura were in full bloom this time of year, not too many people around in the morning (I was there around 11am on September 3rd). There are some spots for rock climbers too. A quaint place to explore, for sure.
Gorgeous place to soak in the views and to rehydrate/bathroom break! Next to the interstate which makes it convenient. I absolutely recommend a stop there.
Beautiful and fun place to explore.
Nice place to stretch your legs and break the SLC to Vegas trip
