“An off roaders dream!”
The St. Anthony Sand Dunes consists of more than 11,000 acres of clear, shifting, white quartz sand dunes up to 400 feet high that move about eight feet each year. They are unique in that the dunes support a high amount of exceptional off-road vehicle use on open dunes inside a wilderness study area, attracting riders from all over the West. Primitive campsites are available on the East end of the dunes along the Red Road. A 48 unit campground is located at Egin Lakes Acess Recreaction Site, located on the south-central portion of the dune camping. Seasonal closures are in effect for most of the sand dunes during the wintertime to no human entry for wintering wildlife. During the day, bring or rent bikes, ATVs, or dune buggies across the sand and hilled terrain. Or go to Egin Lakes in the dunes. At night, go have a bonfire and see the clear night sky above you.
Adrenaline rush great for the whole family! My husband and I took our three kids, ages 14, 10, and 4. I drove my 4 year old in a 2 seat Polaris and my husband took the older two boys. It was perfect! Great adrenaline rush going up 20-30 feet high dunes, and beautiful scenery around the lake. Take note: you can swim there and want to on hot days! The manager was very helpful in reviewing safety tips and getting us all set. I think the price was definitely fair and a great value for this unique experience!
