“From the 1930s!”
A museum in a house. You can see a really cool fire lookout tower from the 1930's in Ray Kresek's backyard. He's got an entire museum featuring all sorts of stuff used by the forest-fire fighters and the guys in the towers. Like the little stools with glass insulators on their feet -- imagine standing on that tiny little piece of real estate during a lightning storm - while you're perched inside a metal box on four long metal poles way up in the sky above the tree tops. (they don't use lookout towers any more). He's got 38 pieces of US Forest Service chinaware (1930's). oooohhh. A bunch of old fire tools like adze hoes, backpack pumpcans, headlamps, saws and even a firetruck. The best part about visiting is talking with Ray and his wife Rita. Ray has written a couple of books on the subject of Lookout Towers in the Northwest. Admission is by appointment and free
