“115 acres & 32 springs”

Founded in 1955, the 115-acre Krause Springs in Spicewood, Texas (about 30 minutes outside of Austin) has become a classic stop for roadtrippers traveling around Texas Hill Country. It offers camping and swimming in their historic natural springs. The springs have been privately owned by the Krause family for over half a century, and the property is listed on the National Registry of Historical Sites. It's opened year-round, pets are not allowed, and there's no lifeguard on duty. Also, credit cards aren't accepted so be sure to bring cash for the $7 adult admission fee ($5 for kids 4-11), and if you wanna camp it's $14 per adult, $6 per kid, and $14 for an RV spot. I recently visited with my son, who was 10 months old at the time. We were roadtripping around Texas and spent about a week exploring Hill Country. It's such an incredible part of the state, I highly recommend visiting. I'd heard of Krause Springs and decided to spend an afternoon there. To my amazement there were 32 springs on site, and several of them feed a man-made pool, which was quite beautiful. It was tucked into a lush forested area. The natural pool also flows into Lake Travis.  Not only does the property bost dozens of springs, but there are also camping sites as well. There's primitive camping and sites for 24 RVs, with water and electricity included for guests. And plenty of picnic areas with BBQ pits. You can also rent a burn barrel ring, to have your own DIY bonfire. They can be rented for $10 ($5 is refunded when you return it). There are also bathroom facilities on-site, with showers, toilets and faucets. It's open in the summer from 9AM to 9PM. One of my favorite parts of Krause Spring is the Butterfly Garden. Wind chimes add to the charm of the gardens, butterflies and trickling fountains. Krause Springs is a well-known camping & swimming site located in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. It is located in Spicewood, Texas approximately 30 miles west of Austin. The 115 acre property is listed on the National Registry of Historical Sites and has been privately owned by the Krause Family for over 50 years. Krause Springs has many natural sites to explore. There are 32 springs on the property, and several feed the manmade pool and the natural pool which flows into Lake Travis. It's a refreshing treat to swim in the Springs during the hot summers of Texas! If camping is in your plans, there is primitive tent camping as well as 24 RV sites with water and electricity available. Guests are also welcome to relax and to stroll through the Butterfly Gardens; take time to listen to the music of the wind chimes and the fountains during your visit!

The picture doesn't do this beautiful campground justice. It is missing all if the natural springs and the gorgeous swimming hole and rope swing. One of the most beautiful places on our road trip from Minnesota!

Really nice people greeting you, many BBQ space and brick tables ! Huge trees and awesome pool with super cold water! Then there's two stairs that go down to the lazy river that is beautiful ! One of the stairs is very slippery and dangerous ! There's a rope to jump into the water. Rocks are slippery !! You won't regret going!

This place is just as gorgeous and dream like as people say. There are decent sized spots for jumping off the cliffs, waterfalls to flirt under and turtles to keep you smiling. Bring sunscreen and beer.

This is the kind of care free swimming hole I was expecting Texas to be full of. A beautiful place which is out of town a but which is great because that means its less crowded. Its a couple of bucks to get in but that lets you swim and walk around the estate all day. We left for some BBQ up the road 'Opies BBQ' best BBQ in Texas and then we just walked back into the estate. Everyone there is pretty chill and there is enough room for swimming, sitting around, and having a damn good time. Enjoy the rope swing and waterfall.

Had a blast here. Loved swimming under the waterfall. The water was ice cold! This place would be a perfect place for a bday party.

With an abundance of wildlife, be sure to keep your tents zipped and sleep with one eye open to spot the eight inch long centipedes.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I've seen. Also, there's a rope swing.
