We used this as a stopping point before hitting the expensive panhandle parks. It's a quiet little town and park on the river. The spots along the street have full hook-ups. The ones along the river are w/e, but they do have a view of the river. There were people there on the weekend in January when we arrived, but it cleared out for the most part during the week.
There's a nice playground on site along with a couple of historic buildings one of which you can go in. The bathrooms are clean. The shower curtains needed replaced, one had fallen off, but they were still usable.
The cell service for Verizon and ATT was usuable for doing some work online.
We called, but we didn't need a reservation. You pay the manager with cash or check when you arrive. He lives in the white house on the property. Make sure you turn down Sheldon street by the post office to get to the park. Park Ave was blocked off down by McKenzie Pl and we ended up having to disconnect the toad and back up.
There's a small IGA and a nice pizza place in town that's only open late in the week. More info in the blog post if you're interested.

I am so thankful for the previous review...it led me to try this park out! We had just left the Tallahassee area and wanted something quiet and cheap. This fit the bill perfectly and was an easy in and out on our way to the Gulf coast. The park is very quiet. The park staff is friendly and helpful. We parked near the playground as we have kids. There is a great little walking trail and other than my children (and our friends children), the place was incredibly quiet. Full hookups for $15 in a quiet and safe place. Nothing much is around...but Sopchoppy pizza is very good! Great travel stop.

Lovely city park. Off the main highway, next to the river. No pay station; park attendant stops by about dinnertime to collect. Only one other RV and a couple of tenters. There is a nice little children's playground. The sites are grassy and include a table. There is no road to the sites. Just drive across the grass. Our site didn't look level, but was nearly perfect once we were in it.

Loved this little park. We were just passing through but spent some time exploring the area. We were camped right on the edge of the water. Signs indicated that it is good for swimming but no life guards. We were there in January so weren't going swimming anyway but I would love to come back when we could. You will be close to your neighbor as the sites aren't huge.We have a 38 foot RV and most sites would accomodate it. I only gave 4 stars for site quality only because the women's showers were locked. Not sure why. The women's bathroom was open and was clean.

Great place to stop and overnight. Park is in an area surrounded by wildlife and nature areas. There’s a nice boardwalk and a network of trails to meander.
Quiet at night. As mentioned in another review: no pay station and the caretaker comes around to collect. We stayed an extra night so that we could explore the state park and river a bit.
We didn’t check out bathrooms or other facilities so can’t comment.

We were only here for one night but I wish we would have had longer to explore this beautiful little park. I thought the price was a little high but the campground was clean and had a beautiful setting by the lake. There was even a nice boardwalk and some swings to enjoy the lake.

First, there's always room. Don't try calling the number; Frank doesn't answer. He'll eventually be by for your $20. The spots by the river don't have sewer and the electric has not been updated-we had to zip tie our plug in. There's an electric cox between 5&6 that has all the breakers. BUT, the floodlights have switches over on this side, so it's darker. The side next to the street has sewer hookups but it's very brightly lit with LED floodlights. We didn't use the bathrooms. There's a large covered area and a nice playground and a big field. Tent campers can camp down by the gazebo as well. We paddled our inflatable kayak upriver about 3 miles and rode our bikes on the greenway to Mashes Sands. It's not too far to Wakulla Springs SP, St. Mark's NWR, or Bald Point. The caretaker didn't seem to do much.

The prior review was pretty much spot on. Hookups are basic and seem to work for the most part. Some sites have a sewer hookup but there is a nice little dump station at the north end of the fields outside the park. Great access to the river - the Ochlockonee seems to have about 6 branches but it looks like you could paddle to the State Park from here. Overall I love the area. If the campgrounds at the State Park and the coastal area are full (don't forget Tate's Hell!), this is a perfectly serviceable backup for the money.

Had a last-minute stay here on our way to Topsail Hill Preserve. We pulled into Sopchoppy and found an awesome brewery (Civic Brewery) with a delish food truck. We called and left a message for the park manager to ask him about closing time. He said he closes the gates at 9pm. He came by and collected $20 from us when we arrived. It’s a beautiful spot with nice hookups. VERY pleased!
