This is not a typical rest stop with a large parking area but rather a semi circular loop, just (barely) wide enough for trucks and cars to parallel park on both sides. The ladies room, while not clean, was at least not nasty and there was toilet paper. Not so for the mens room, which gets a lot more use. Dont even think about putting out slides. This is a busy, busy safety/rest stop with lots of trucks coming and going all night. But it's free, legal, and we felt safe. If you're not too tired, continue west to the next rest area, which is much bigger.
Passed through driving a minivan. If you park on the side where the trucks park then you could let out slide on the side facing north. I-10 runs east/west. We were westbound. Our sales taxes fund this rest area. Even though it is old, it is maintained.
The ladies and men’s restrooms were clean with flushing toilets and running water. There was a fresh water spout that was easily accessible to the public.
This was the first rest stop with restrooms from where Hey 290 and I-10 junction so it gets a lot of traffic.
I think like a car or van dweller. For my needs, this rest stop was excellent. Put up your blackout shades and sleep headphones and rest so you are safe on the road. R’vers are looking for a temporary home base and this is not the place so they rate it lower.
It was 100 degrees in late May so solar would work.
There is a place to dump trash bags. On a busy Memorial Day weekend it was exceptionally clean. If ever you see a dirty Texas rest stop please report it to the state. The vendor will correct the situation but of course the whistleblower won’t be there to see the solution.
This Sonora Texas arearest stop has restrooms that are open to the outdoors so they will be hot or cold depending on the weather.
If you have two slides then no, do not open them because the road is too narrow.
The rest area has 2 picnic areas and one is designated wheelchair accessible. The covered picnic tables were all metal and maintained. The grill was clean. Relax and enjoy your journey. I deducted points for site quality and noise for the sake of r’vers who want to put out slides.
I like the way this rest area is laid out. You pull up to a curb rather than being in a parking lot. This means that nobody is beside you running their motor all night long. Lots of grass for the dogs. Has a dump station and potable water supply. Very clean and well lit.
Stopped to use the sewer dump. Looks like overtime folks have missed the hole and the ground is covered in sewage. It was awful! It’s also on a tilt and nearly impossible to dump your tanks. We drove away with our tanks still full.
Dump station is good. No rinse out hose but it does have a spout for potable water. Would fill my tank up w that though lol. The water spout inside the rest area is not in service nor are the water fountains. They are all wrapped up in tape. Not sure why. Also, not an ideal spot to let your pup walk around. The grass is full of sticker thorn plants
Free, clean and has potable water
On a bit of a tilt so your tank isn’t going to empty completely
No hose so have your own
If for some reason you don’t want to dump here there is a Loves 10 miles east off the 10
Lives will cost you ten bucks and they have no potable water
The dump is IMMEDIATELY on your right as soon as you pull into the rest area, so be ready to stop for that.
Free, potable water and dump!! Both are in excellent working condition.
Clean and fully operational.
The dump station is at the entrance of the pull off, on the right side. Go slow off the highway or you will not be able to turn into it.
Right side of dump is angled way too much. We had to go up on blocks. Use the left side and push your hose under the rig.
Free dump with potable water. Overnight parking.
As other reviews stated, the dump/full area is immediately off the ramp so go slow so you don’t miss it.
Bathrooms here were also clean and well maintained.
