Glacier Gap

Classic 1930’s Cabin perched on the edge of the scenic South Yuba River. Wake up to the fresh mountain air and have breakfast overlooking the calm beauty of the river from a private patio. Guests can relax as they admire the enchanting view of the waterfall from the lodge style bar, with their evening cocktail or morning coffee. But don’t forget to look up before going to bed. You won’t believe the number of stars visible without the city’s glow. In the summer, swim in the river at your leisure, wander around the granite riverbed or explore the National Forest, just a few steps away. The house is located along a popular cycling route and east of the Loch Leven hiking trail head (Big Bend) so getting out and having an adventure is easy. Or a short drive to Donner Summit provides for more challenging rock climbing and more great hiking trails. In the winter, get to the snow without going over DONNER SUMMIT! Access to large yard gives you a chance totake a quick stroll in the snow or build a fun snow fort with family. Glacier Gap is only ¼ mile from I-80 at Rainbow Rd, one exit west Kingvale, so you can usually avoid putting on chains. Nine miles to BOREAL or SUGAR BOWL for great alpine skiing; 7 miles to ROYAL GORGE for cross country skiing and 20 miles to Downtown Truckee for shopping or additional dining. The large living/dining room has an open granite fireplace, hardwood floors and cathedral ceiling with architecture characteristic of old Europe. The large kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher and microwave/convection, but still hosts the original stove and is decorated with old time cooking utensils. Sleeps 8 adults. The master bedroom has a private bath, an outside balcony overlooking the waterfall and an inside balcony overlooking living room. Two other large bedrooms have their own bathrooms and the attic room has access to a 2nd floor bathroom.
