We enjoyed our stay at Beuscher State park. We stayed in the Cozy Circle Loop in site 11. We liked the cul de sac feel to this loop. All of the concrete pads were replaced last year so the sites are very level. There was only 30amp available at the park, no 50amp. The crew were great to work with and were very helpful in letting us select our site. The lake is the premier feature to the park. There are great trails for hiking as well, one includes a cool old foot bridge. The lake is stocked with bass, catfish and rainbow trout (in the winter). We enjoyed watching the deer in the mornings walking through the campground too. The bathrooms were immaculate and the buildings were well maintained. Smithville is a short drive away with plenty of restaurants. We found a fantastic steak house in Winchester Tx, its about 8 miles away from the park. Murphys Steakhouse. Great steaks and desserts, its well worth the drive!

I arrive back at camp after a day trip to Austin on my little blue scooter only to find the campground has emptied significantly now that Sunday's come around.

In fact, my little site #44 was only one of three occupied spaces in the Lakeview loop (best loop hands down but no electric, if you need it).

I had a chuckle about the fact that the other two campers had decided to move in on both sides of my relatively small for a TX state park site...so it was a little awkward when I realized site #48 was open and I had to make excuses to my new neighbors as to why I was leaving

But site 48, best spot in the whole park. You get a magnificent triangle dripping with the only actual "lake view" in the loop, where frogs bull I to the night and four barred owls screeched at me every evening from around 7pm all the way through daybreak.

There's an outlet in the shelter that lives in the middle of the loop, too, for phone charging. Two bars of LTE on AT&T worked well enough to watch videos, listen to NPR and build the internet.

Did I mention the owls? If you dig birds then you'll want to see this. Also, drive Park Road 1C, slowly. You'll be impressed.

We spent one night here on our way to College Station. What a beautiful park! So Serine and quiet thanks to our being the only campers in the park! The camp sites are all fairly new concrete pads and almost perfectly level so set up was a snap. All of the sites are 30 amp so we could only run one A/C unit but thanks to the well shaded sites that was all we needed!
The road s a newly paved and very smooth and made for great riding on my high speed mobility scooter!
We will be returning to Buecher SP in the fall and I look forward to doing some fishing in the small lake.
I have posted videos of our visit on my YouTube channel and they can be seen here...

This was our very first trip in our new rig! We picked it up from the dealer and drove straight to the park. We were greeted by a friendly Park Ranger who gave us our maps and told us a little history of the park, as well as pointing out a few hiking trails we may want to hit up. We stayed in the Cozy Circle area and, while it was a little tight, this n00b had no problems backing our 35' TT into our spot. They have newer looking concrete pads, so everything was pretty level. The sites themselves are a little close compared to a lot of other Texas state parks. Sites 9 and 10 are pretty much right on top of each other, so if you're looking for privacy they may not be the best spots, but on the flipside, they would be awesome spots to share with friends. There was plenty of shade, so I'd imagine that, even in July-Sept, these sites would be pretty nice. A Copper Head snake was under our trailer steps the first evening, and although that's the only one we saw, all the downed leaves in the park are the perfect habitat for them so we were a little hesitant to let our 5 and 1 yr old wander around too much.

We mostly hung around the campground, getting the hang of our new rig, but we did take a few short hikes, as well as checked out all the CCC buildings. Although we didn't take advantage, the park rents canoes and kayaks to paddle on the park's lake, however no swimming is allowed, so that was kind of a bummer. They have a nice playground that my 5 year old really enjoyed. We also took the opportunity to drive through nearby Bastrop State Park. Although much of Bastrop SP was badly burned during the fire of 2011, the old stone cabins were untouched so you can still go check out where LBJ, amongst others, used to sit and play cards and cut deals well into the night.

We paid $17/night for water and 30 amp electric. We have a Texas State Park Pass, so our daily fees were waived, but I think they are $5 per person, per day. The city of Bastrop is only a 10ish minute drive away and has any kind of store you'll need. (HEB, Home Depot, Tractor Supply) and the quaint town of Smithville (location of the film Hope Floats) is nearby, but offers fewer stores and restaurants. It's about 20 miles to La Grange, and while the Chicken Ranch is long gone, you can still crank some ZZ Top and head over to Weikel's Bakery for some kolaches.

To be clear, this review is from our stay in the middle of March, before Texas State Parks closed due to the coronavirus.

We needed 1 night’s stay before going into Austin, and we chose this campground. Very nicely run, pleasant staff and clean facilities. We were in a camping loop in site #9 and some of the sites aren’t very secluded. We were smack up against a family’s vacation, although they were fairly quiet. Water and electric at the site worked great. Showers were what you’d expect from a state park facility - water wasn’t super hot, was low pressure but you’ll still get clean.

We used the showers and dump station, and would definitely camp here again in the future. We only did a short walk to a day-use fishing area, and there was lots of park to explore that we didn’t get a chance to.

We stayed here overnight while traveling through Texas. The check in was easy and friendly. The location is nice. This seems to be a popular park, but we were able to get in without a reservation on a weekday during the week of Thanksgiving.
The park is well laid out, the roads are well maintained. The sites are paved and 17 was level. The fire rings are smallish and ours was not in the best location in the site, but it was clean and functional. We did not use the bathhouse.
We travel with two small dogs that are well behaved (one is a Service Dog), and Campground Karen greeted us upon arrival and let us know that there is a $500 fine for each unleashed pet.
The dump station is at the back of the park but has easy access and a slight slope towards the dump site. There is a non-potable water bib available to rinse with.
