“The impact of Mt. St. Helens explosion”

Catastrophic change at Mount St. Helens is the theme of the 7 Wonders Creation Museum. Services include professional displays, presentations, creation resources, guided hikes and off-site speaking tours. Operated by Lloyd and Doris Anderson, who live on-site, plus volunteers, the non-profit Museum is located just 9.5 miles east of I-5 on SR 504. Over 25,000 people have visited since 1998. Admission is free. Secular geology has long supported evolution by arguing that the earth changes slowly over millions of years. At the Museum you will learn how layering and canyons were formed quickly by ash fall, mud flows and pyroclastic flows. Astonishingly, a mini Grand Canyon was carved in hours. The Museum’s bookstore contains the largest selection of creation titles known in the NW on sale daily. Some 200 book and DVD titles reveal that all the major disciplines of science strongly support recent creation. Come and browse them by the hour, or, even borrow a DVD to take home. Generally open during the tourist season (mid May-October) Monday through Saturday, 9am to 6pm and Sundays, 12-6pm, you can drop by when visiting the volcano. Call (360-274-5737) to schedule presentations, tours and field trips for your organization or group. Museum Entry Garden The photo above shows the Museum’s new look dedicated in 2008 for the organization’s 10th anniversary. From the new 15-car parking lot, a concrete walkway leads you to the red entrance door which is surrounded by a brick courtyard. A mural of Mount St. Helens greets you. Painted by Pauline Brunt of Oregon, the artwork continues inside above professionally designed displays that feature local and global disasters. Photo is by Sandy Baltazar of Silverlake, WA. Lloyd also travels regionally with his slide show to give group presentations. Hours are shorter during the non-tourist season, so best to call before coming because sometimes no one is available to keep the Museum open. Various roads lead to the mountain but only the main highway, the 52-mile long State Route 504, has all the world-class visitor centers and the best view of the crater. It is on this highway that the 7Wonders Creation Museum is located. The Museum is planning several special events with visiting scientists during the 2011 tourist season. These will be posted as they are finalized.
