Points of Rock

The best snorkeling on the Gulf Coast lies off a Siesta Key shore called Point of Rocks. This is no secret. Generations of natives and tourists have explored the limestone ledges extending more than 100 yards north and south. Calm seas make for a perfect beginner dive. In just a few feet of water, children and adults can practice spitting into their masks and strapping on fins. The challenge for locals is reaching the place. This part of Siesta Key is notorious for having little, if any, public parking. Which brings us to Beach Access 12, just south of the Stickney Point Bridge.
