Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on October 17, 2021We planned to stay at the BLM by water tower hill right next to this place and did manage to make it down that kind of rough road with a turn around at the end. After seeing some Well valves right by the loop and not wanting to get our door knocked on in the middle of the night we decided to proceed forward to our backup plan at poisoning creek. It’s a bit steep for essentially dispersed camping but I’d rather pay for a known quantity in the dark with no neighbors over a campground anyway. Pay at the station on the way in then just pick a spot along the water. Lots of quiet / private loops. 3 bars Verizon and 3G on ATT.

Fantastic views. Very private. Even has bathroom. Saw 20 Pronghorns on way in. Only downside was the mosquitos were viscous.

It is sad that you have to pay two miles (down a dirt road - and lets hope you like it) prior to even seeing what the site looks like.
There is (ONLY)
1 fire ring,
1 picnic table,
1 vault bathroom but it is clean,
0 trash
The description on this Campendium website makes the place seem better then what it is. BTW, not an easy stop over when it's two miles down a dirt road. Also no shade where you park your RV and the water is brown and ugly were it meets the shoreline.

This is a very pretty place to spend a night. Yes, it is 2 miles in on a dirt road, but said road is right off a main highway and is smooth and well maintained (as of Oct. 2021).
Calling it a campground is misleading. There is a primitive bathroom and one picnic bench on the beach. If you are confident of your rig's ability to handle sand, you could park here. We chose a flat spot up the hill overlooking the lake. Beautiful and peaceful!
Backstory. We were having an issue with our rig. So we needed a place to post up for a few days and found this spot, thinking the cost was $10/night. A park ranger stopped by the next day and informed us it was $10 per vehicle PLUS a $7 day-use fee PER VEHICLE. One motorhome + one car = $34! Outrageous! And this is for Wyoming residents. Not sure of the out-of-state fees but I will bet they're much higher. The ranger did indicate the signage on pricing at the entrance station was misleading and said the park will be changing that. He was also quite friendly and even helpful as we tried to resolve our rig issues.
To summarize, it is a very pretty area (that we unfortunately did not get to enjoy as we were working on the ol' MH), and we had two quiet and peaceful nights as the sole residents. However it is EXTREMELY pricey for what you get, which essentially is nothing.
Edited to add: out-of-state resident fees are $18/night and $12/day use, per vehicle.
