Confirmed by 6 users | Last reported on October 27, 2022With proximity to I-64, this is a nice place to stop for a night or two before or after you deal with Louisville traffic.
It's a city/county park with lots to see and do; inexpensive nightly rate makes it a reasonable alternative to parking lot surfing. Only about 10 spots, so call first to check availability.
We stayed in a 38' fifth wheel, and I would not recommend this campground for anything bigger. Arrive before dark -- narrow road and poor lighting.
No wifi, no laundry, no sewer hookups; dump station on site. Further details in my post under the "Blog Posts" tab. (Note: blog contains NO ads or affiliate links.)

I am giving this great little campground 5 stars even though there are a few things that aren't perfect.
Pros: It's quiet-sometimes you can hear a train in the far distance or maybe a siren but most of the time it's blissfully quiet.
Your campsite-there are only 10 for RVs-will back up onto Lake Shelby where the dawn will greet you along with the calls of ducks and geese. 30 amp service with water that tastes good with the dump as you leave. There are tent campsites further down the road scattered around along the lakeside as well.
The showers are huge, great water pressure, lots of hot water, only negative is that the whole floor floods-put your slippers on the bench,-bathrooms are immaculate
There are numerous hiking trails in the campground, near the campground and a short drive away
The town of Shelbyville is 10 minutes away and has all conveniences-Kroger, Walmart, laundromat, banks etc.
Louisville, Bardstown, Lexington and other towns are within an hour away making it easy to do day trips.
The town sports facility is at the top of the hill and a day pass is $6. In and outdoor swimming pools, a track, a dry sauna...and fields for baseball.
If you are looking for distilleries they are all over, Jeptha Creek is the closest-in Shelbyville and there is a winery as well.
There is boating (non motorized) and fishing right at the lake
Sites are level and sunny
Cons:
There is no WiFi but the cell signal is good (ATT and Verizon both 3 bars, 5 boosted)
The dump takes a bit of maneuvering
The concrete pads for rigs are quite short however we had a 38 ft 5th wheel parked next to us with no problem. The campground is quiet enough that having a longer rig that sticks out into the asphalt area does not seem to be a problem
If you are coming in an RV you'll need reservations and payment in advance as the office is rarely manned. Tent camping is done by the honor system. Even when we were here the end of Oct and early Nov there were only a few sites open. They do have some long term residents but they are mostly area residents or new transfers to the area waiting for their house to be built. There's a small playground as well.

Small, but nice campground for an overnight. Few campers look like they have been here longer than 14 days, but all in all it was a great stop over. To keep from repeating what others have said - we will just say this..... We were traveling thru the area looking for a quick and easy spot for the night with power and this place was great for that. Will say the GPS took us astray a bit, but if you just follow the info signs you will get there! About 5-6 miles off Hwy 64. Right on the River - see pics. We arrived about 6:30p and they only had one site left that was too small for us - BUT another camper offered to move! His Rig was much smaller and he was very nice to offer - he did say he stops by here often and loves this little spot. Although we did not use the water or bathroom areas other reviews state they are nice and clean.
There is a small boat ramp right at the sites and tent sites down the road. A play ground, park and fields all around. Sites were neat and freshly mowed with power and water. We paid $25 on the Honor system at the Board provided. Our AT&T and Verizon both worked well here.

Stayed over a long weekend.
keep in mind this is a public park. Stayed Middle of October cold nights......shower house was warm and not super clean, but for Twenty bucks a night I was glad to get a hot shower. The road in was interesting and sort of looked like the asphalt was in the process of washing out inside the park.
There was a lot of traffic in and out, and Friday there was a company picnic in the campground pavilion directly behind our trailer and they parked us in. Friday there was some sort of a school event with a schools worth of kids running around the park.
These are not complaints just something to be aware of.
The camp host was super nice and seemed genuinely glad to see us.
As noted there was one long term trailer down near the boat ramp.

As others have posted, the sites are very close to each other and the pads are quite short. We had friendly neighbors, who we enjoyed. Behind the campers there was a nice open area that was shared fishing/water access. It felt like a city park that people mostly enjoyed for fishing… nothing wrong with that, but it was just different than we expected when booking a lake front spot as it is definitely not swimming water. Also, we arrived to a very full garbage can overloaded with flies at our site, so that was a bit unpleasant. We moved the garbage can away and that helped, but the flies still made eating outside less enjoyable. The water and electric hook up were fine, we did not look for the dump station so we can not comment on that.

We were pleasantly surprised. Our spot along the water was beautiful. Aside from the noises of nature, and the distance to the facilities, this was a great place to stay! Dan was helpful and friendly, on the phone and in person. I marked this as a favorite!

Nice little city type park with RV spots basically in a parking lot. Electric and water sites. There’s a bathhouse and a small lake with a creek running off a dam.I chose this because I wanted to tour Louisville but anything closer to town was more than twice the price. I decided to use this as a jumping off point to tour the area. Louisville is 30 mile away but looks like there’s plenty to see and do in the surrounding area.

We stayed 2 nights in August and the campground was a great deal. Sites had water and electric (50, 20, 20 amp) service. The campground had a dump station that was pull-in. We had to pull in and back out of the dump station but it easily fit our 38 foot class A. The sites were close together, but close to the water. There is a boat launch available for $2 per boat. They also have a beach volleyball court and a local park with ball fields and golf is a walk or short drive to the other side of the lake. More can be found @rebootingus.

This campground was just outside of Shelbyville & even though there were a lot of locals in and out during the day, it quieted down at night. I stayed a night in August and even though it was super hot, it had everything I needed and was worth the price. I stayed again in November and the water was shut off for the winter, so no bathrooms. only con was all the geese!
