Can be a little creepy at night as there are cows that free range throughout the grounds. Great dark skies for stargazing and astronomy. Hiking up onto the dam makes for a great vista. There is a road that goes up on the dam, but it is gated and locked, but you can easily follow one of the cattle trails up onto it from the paved road.
This site is open year round for primitive camping/boondocking. The roads can be a little sketchy the farther you get off the pavement or in bad weather. A high clearance vehicle is best. Take 266 in from the west to 1608 and then onto 485. Any other way in will send you down some iffy roads as well. There are a couple of dumpsters and porta potties at the boat ramp parking lot.

Found a lovely camp site right on the water, but the first night the strong April winds nearly took the tent to the other side of the campground, so moved to a more sheltered site. Many fire ants so beware...especially under the cow patties. Didn't see any cows :( but heard a few. Many cyotes in the distance. Fire ban so couldn't have a fire pit which was a bummer but am glad so to keep the park safe. Only a camper was there while we were there. They caught some BIG fish! Very quiet but more active at the boat ramp 2 roads away where there's a dumpster. Lots of trash left from previous campers that had blown around. We picked up a couple of bags full. Rangers drove through at least 3 times a day. Long drive to any town, so go in prepared with what you need...don't think Dominos delivers that far away...lol. I loved it here and plan on going back. Very primitive!

If GPS or sign puts you on dirt road don’t take it! We did and had a long muddy ride until we ended up at the end on the actual paved road in.
Ducks, great sunset, park anywhere but the parking lot.

Like previously stated don’t take the dirt road. It was a very cool place to park our 23ft trailer right by the water. It was flooded when we visited, but it was still easy to find a spot. Just keeping going down the road passed the parking lot and you’ll see something good. Great place for being free

If you go down a dirt road don’t there’s one way to enter and be on paved road the whole way....there’s a awesome spot I definitely stay here again...beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Hardly anyone around. Paid zero. Didn’t find a potable water. Fill up before you get here. I stayed 2 nights in 32 ft fifth wheel

Very appealing, clean for a free place. Usually people trash them up good.;not the case here.
Will be going back soon. Want to try my Zamp solar panels and 4 patriots solar power box 1800watt, hoping it will power the ac circuits on a 33 foot Keystone springdale. Great location and excited about trying new modifications.

We spent the election day and night here 3 Nov 2029
“AwAy from the maddening crowd!”
We enoyed the peace and solitude. Wind got up and turned lake to chocolate but understand thats North Texas what they refer to as “Permian Red”
When lake calms is a beautiful place, courtesy of Texas Parks and Wildlife and Baylor County.

Gorgeous lake, gorgeous scenery. Wish there was more direction though. All the roads I saw were dirt and would be an absolute nightmare trying to drive down if it had recently rained. Alot of deep ruts. One of the roads I took ended with tire tracks going into water and we had to back all the way out. With that being said I still highly recommend. I stayed on the North side of the lake and found a cozy little spot near the boat ramp. This area is a bit more maintained and a larger RV could get through here with space to turn around. Stayed July fourth and it surprisingly wasnt that busy, found a spot easily.
