Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 27, 2020Captain Critter is a nice lady. Campground would do in a pinch. Sites are very tight. We could not put out are awning. It appears we will have to back out of our "pull thru" site to exit. The old pool is being used as a dump site. Pet friendly. For the price you pay it is not worth it. Train noise can be bad. No picnic table, no fires or fire ring.

We stayed here17 yrs ago when it was a KOA. Was marginal then and is questionable now.
Pros: super cheap nightly rate, super friendly owner on staff 24/7/365, new electrical, free decent wifi.
Cons: run down. Needs far too much work for this single female owner. Full of weeds puncture vines in the dog run, broken picnic tables, debris, a pool that has weeds growing in it, and a train track across the street that has a train going by most of the night horn whistle blowing each and every time. We came and stayed just because the owner was so nice on the phone. I doubt we would stay again only because of the train and keeping you awake all night. There is a Walmart nearby where we saw other RVrs staying for the night. Truly if there was no train we would stay again just to support this owner in her endeavors but not with that train. No sleep at all.

A lot of reviews of this place note the train noise. We full time and have camped near trains before so thought no big deal, we can handle it. This was the WORST. There's a road crossing literally across the street from the campground, plus a other down the road. So you get at least 4 horns per crossing and they are LOUD. And frequent. And LOUD. Like sleeping? No sleep for you because here comes another train.
And look, the owner of the campground is incredibly nice and does all she can to make this campground a great spot.
Verizon coverage works for calls but data is slow. 2-3 bars and we still had to hop back and forth with the Wifi.

Nice owner, full hook ups, site was level. Owner in the process of upgrading the camp ground, should be really nice when completed. Laundry and showers are closed due to COVID.
