We stayed here in the 90's when it was family owned. Always a great stay. The bathrooms have been updated and there is a laundry.
No pets allowed is the only reason I haven't been back.
It is now operated by Sarasota County, FL

The campsites at Turtle Beach Campground are close together and can be hard to get into with a bigger rig (but they do get in). The sites themselves are not special. One side backs up to a wooden fence, and the other to some shrubbery. The view out the side window is of your neighbor's rig.

The campground has beach access which we enjoyed along with evening walks on the sidewalk through the neighborhood.

There is wifi, however, it's not very fast. We also used the laundry and it was fine - $2 Wash/$2 Dry.

Compared the the nearby RV resorts, I think it's the best price you'll find in the area for full hookups.

A small county-operated campground with beach access within feet of the campsite. Across the street is a nice restaurant as well as an average grill. Trolley will bring you into Siesta Key and back.

One of the very few campgrounds on Florida’s west coast with direct beach access, but no ocean view from campsites. Spaces are close together with palm trees and shrubbery between, providing some privacy and shade. Tight back-in for 30' and up but people do it. Tropical look. Well kept. Great sunsets. Walk to beach from all sites in 1 – 2 minutes. Sites slope just a bit to the paved center road. All utilities at back of sites. 50-30-20 amp power maintained 110 – 115 volts even in 90 degree June weather and a full campground. Good water pressure although I avoided drinking it, sewer worked well. Basic cable TV with a decent letterboxed picture. Wifi strong enough to stream You Tube videos, slowed late in the day and evening.
Beach clean and water clear. No red tide, just a little sea weed. Beach has eroded over the last 3 years and vegetation has invaded parts of the beach. Still plenty of room for the modest crowds, tighter on weekends. Mostly quiet but there were some folks who at times played music and partied too loud. A complaint to the office about one group that did this until 3:30am was handled well the next morning. No repeat the next night. Two decent restaurants across the street. A scheduled shuttle bus runs to Siesta Key village.
Sites are expensive, but you can pay double for beach sites in Florida with a direct ocean view. My rate was $10 lower in off season. Reserve early and check back often. Be willing to change sites during your stay if you want more than a few nights. Will return again in cooler weather for two weeks.

i read a lot of comments and reviews, and watched youtube videos about this campsite. all positive. this was not our experience at all. I can't believe this is the campsite everyone raved about. i get it. maybe it's because we have a pop up and depend on the bathhouses when we camp, but still. we were there for 4 days and paid for 5. we skipped out of our last day. the bathhouses were not cleaned the whole time we were there. i don't know if that was a virus thing? but it was nasty. and they are small and not very private. i'm 6 foot tall and can put my forehead on the stall door when sitting down. and the stall doors are only about 4 foot tall. then, the showers are a step up, so i could damn near see a toilet seat from the shower. shower floors were filthy. dirty the whole time we were there.
The place is in a very nice area. loved the beach, went next door and rented paddle boards and went out on the lagoon / sound side and saw manatees. that was great. went downtown and got food. friendly people in the area. loved everything else except the bathhouse, but in our situation, we depend on it.

i would love to have a larger camper, with a restroom, but i don't think i could have parked in this place. we were right next to the road, with wasn't as bad as we expected for noise.

Great spot on the beach. It's really really tight but well worth it once you get in the spots. Very handy being near the showers to clean off from the beach. Can't wait to get back there!

We happened to get an open spot here Sat-Tues in November. Seems to be very booked all the time for a long way out, so we were lucky.
The sites are tight and ours in particular didn’t have much room once were were slid out. But that’s okay, you’re steps away from a fabulous beach with amazing sunsets.
There is an outdoor shower by the bath house that you can use to shower off sand.
We took the free trolley into town, which was very convenient and our kids loved it.
The laundry room here was very tidy and the machines take credit cards which I think is so clutch when you’re on the road and don’t have a bunch of change (especially with the coin shortage now!).
My only complaint is the sugar ants. Tiny little buggers have made their way into our camper and are also all over our outdoor items. But it’s Florida and they’re harmless so it didn’t bother us that much.

I live about 40 miles from this sight and decided to take the pickup for a drive up there and put my foot in the water sort of speak before I commit to reserving a spot for a few days this winter.. The campground is very small, seems almost ideal for a vehicle and a tent since I took a walk thru the park and the sights are so small there isn't enough room for your vehicle to park when you drop your trailer.. But it is right on the beach , and for all you beach goers, I'm sure you'll find a way to adjust to fitting into the small spaces to spend time there. I rang the intercom to ask questions and no one answers .. Probably on the beach.. do you blame them.. I did see the NO VACANCY sign there , so call ahead to get more details..
