On the phone, the casino was very welcoming. Said it was a dirt lot behind the gas station.
The lot was rough, packed dirt, but easily traversed in our low-clearance MH. We were very secluded. Couldn't see the casino from where we were, but had a view of the fuel station. Quietest casino parking I've experienced, we parked in the back of the lot.
I've stayed in paid RV parks that weren't this private.
Dirt parking lot off from the casino, near their fuel station. Pretty rough dirt lot, but my low-clearance class A didn't have any problems. We parked at the rear with trees and mountains on two sides, barely could see the casino through the trees.
This was the most quiet casino parking lot I've ever used. On the phone, the casino staff were welcoming. Zero cost.
As others have said, the Casino security was very welcoming. The dirt lot is just east of the Vallero gas station. The lot is dirt with big ruts from the rain but it is FREE! Get out and find a spot and figure out the best way to get to that spot to avoid the ruts. There are no services but there is an RV park ( Road Runner ) up the road with water and a dump for $10. We stayed here for 4 nights in a 37 foot 5th wheel, felt safe and it was quiet. There are good deals at the casino if you sign up for their club. We would definitely stay here again as it is convenient to everything Santa Fe.
The Camel Rock Casino is nothing impressive. There are a few lots here to park a RV. We ended up parking for 3 days undisturbed behind the casino. There is also parking right at the exit behind the Valero gas station. This area looked nicer to me. Leveler and easier access to the hillside. We never bothered to move since we were barely there.
You have the casino and gas station right here if you need anything. The cell service was up and down. AT&T was unreliable. Verizon was from 1 to 4 bars 4G. The highway is right next to the lot and is a bit noisy. Downtown Santa Fe is about a 15 minute drive from here.
Mountain Biking is popular around here and we found La Tierra Trails, 10 min away, fun for all level riders. Downtown Santa Fe has many old churches to check out along with lots of other Native American style architecture. The Santa Fe River walkway is nice and there are at least 4 breweries here, we stopped in 3, makes for a fun loop around the town. Also tons of shopping, art galleries, and other touristy stuff.
Great overnight stop. Large dirt lot behind the Valero Gas Station.
We pulled up to a clearly closed casino. Signage removed and parking lot blocked off. The Valero station is still there as well as the dirt lot with the RV Parking sign, however there is also a sign directly underneath that one which states “No Camping”. So we were hesitant. There was one RV parked in the lot. We looked at the ground and didn’t feel entirely comfortable driving onto it, it appeared really loose and sandy and bumpy. We’ve been stuck in sand before and didn’t want to chance another mishap. Some research revealed that the newer Tesuque Casino opened a few miles away. We called ahead and security told us overnight parking for a camper van was fine. When we arrived we approached a security guard to see if there was any check in protocol for overnight parking and he looked thoroughly confused. He brought us to talk to a manager type person who said we could park at the lot next to the Valero. We explained that we didn’t feel comfortable at that lot so he said as long as we weren’t too long we could stay. A guard came out to assess our vehicle size and said it was fine. For reference, we’re driving a Sprinter Van, we fit in a regular sized parking spot. It sounds like they wouldn’t be comfortable with any sort of larger rig. We’re staying because we’ve been looking for a campsite for a lot later than we expected today and this is good enough for now. But I’d advise other travelers to look elsewhere, because I don’t exactly feel welcome here. If you have 4wd, then you’d be ok at the Valero lot, but even so, it looked too sketchy for my liking.
Sorry to say that as of 07/03/2019, this parking area has been permanently closed.
The casino parking lots are closed as the casino has closed and moved closer to Santa Fe. There is still a dirt lot next to the Valero Gas station (on the east side) that has overnighters that I have seen on a constant basis. It's a big dirt lot.
We are staying at the the new casino just south a few miles (exit 171) and took a trip up to see camel rock so we stopped in here and found all the parking areas closed and barricaded.
