The entire campground smells like open sewer. Site 815 is uninhabitable — we could not go outside as sewer gas was nauseating and made us sick. The maintenance person said remedying it was beyond his competence and they needed plumbers to address.
According to people who had camped at Sun Outdoors before, sewer smell had been there for years.
Depending whom you talk to on the staff, you also come across some real volatile and very unfriendly.

We stayed here from Friday to Sunday. Arrival was easy and the road in was wide and easy to navigate. Check in was simple and getting the Good Sam discount applied was a breeze. Got directions to our spot and drove up.
The spot numbers are back on the hookup posts, so look hard. Our spot had a nice big concrete pad for the RV and a hard packed smooth level dirt area for camp. Cool rough cut picnic table and a standard fire ring rounded out the site.
I was able to back in with no issues and had room to maneuver. The sites are not huge by any means but much bigger than some places.
Pool was nice, clean and not over used. Hot tub was HOT and clean as well.
Only peaked in on the bathroom/ shower room but it looked spacious and clean as well.
Camp store is decently stocked but crazy expensive mark up.
Had a great weekend but not sure we will reutn. A bit steep on the prize for the level of site care and up keep. We r more mountain and lake campers than the icean so if the icean is your thing this might be a spot for u

Ocean Mesa is in my top two favorite places. Arrival and check in are both easy. Some spots have an ocean view and the spaces are large and somewhat woodsy. Showers and bathrooms are VERY clean and there’s on-site laundry. It is a quiet campground and everyone was very friendly. There’s a large pool and playground on site, as well as a dog run and access to the El Capital campground below Ocean Mesa where there is a larger convenience store, restaurant, and outdoor music venue. Prices are a little steep but it’s well worth it for the cleanliness and what the campground has to offer.
We took a daytrip to Solvang, which I highly recommend. We already have a trip planned for Summer 2017.
Helpful hint: they book out VERY far and holiday weekends book up fast.
Our favorite site is the front row, pull through site right by the dog run (easy access to El Capitan and a little ocean view); space 882

We stayed over a weekend. Plenty of families in for the weekend Friday and especially Saturday night. Sunday night was dead quiet. There was plenty of kid noise, but it was all happy and quieted down early in the evening. Everyone I talked to were very friendly.
The pull through sites are not spacious, but not cramped either. Being on a hill, you don't feel too much like you are looking in your neighbors window. Plus there is some shrubbery between most sites. My site was quite level, but I had a little struggle getting unhitch because it tilted down enough that the ball didn't want to come loose immediately.
The park is right off of 101 and a set of train tracks, but the noise was less than I was expecting.
Internet is not free, but our cell phone hotspots did the job.
The price did seem a little steep and we prefer more space between sites, but this park is by far the best option for visiting Santa Barbara in our opinion.

Stayed her for three nights with family, including two boys ages 8 and 10, in our 34' Class A. This place is usually booked solid, but I checked the website a week before our trip and noticed there were two sites available. Checkin process is a breeze. First impression is that the facility is very well maintained with lush, mature landscaping. Site are packed in but there is tall shrubbery that separates them. Also the park is terraced which helps provide some privacy. Best sites are probably the back-in ones around the edges.
Hookups are top notch with 20/30/50 electric, sewer, and two water spigots. Pads are level concrete. Steel fire rings and a wooden picnic table at each site. Pet friendly.
Our site backed up to the trail which runs down to El Capitan Canyon. It's nice to have access to that facility for the Canyon Market restaurant, the wine tasting on Friday nights, and the live music on Saturday nights (during the summer). Beach is a good walk or a short bike ride or drive. There's a giant field in the middle of the park which was great for the boys and us to play ball and run around.
We enjoyed our stay and would considering staying again especially if we were to come back with other families. As it was, there isn't much to do in the area besides the beach. You're sort of left hanging out in the park while kids zoom around on bikes and scooters and splash in the pool all day (noise level is pretty high during the day, but quiet hours are well-enforced). That may work for some folks. We found ourselves a little bit bored.

I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the wide range of reviews.Thankfully, our experience was exceptional. Check in was fast and courteous, and my assigned site did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and did not feel cramped, however, they currently only use alternate sites because of C-19 ( Could feel different when fully booked). Rode our bikes down to the State Park each day and enjoyed the 2-mile paved trail. Hiked each day and also walked down to their site and ate at the restaurant. All in all...great fun!

Nice and private with tree hedges between sites. Full hook ups with pool, trails, immaculately maintained restrooms with nice hot showers.
Wifi is free and can upgrade if you need better bandwidth.
Has a small on site store with firewood available. Accommodates RVs as well as tenters.
About 30 min from Santa Barbara.

Overall this is an amazing campground! It is super clean and well maintained. It has a nice pool, hot tub, and restrooms with showers. It is a shared resort with El Capitan Canyon so you can take advantage of the store/restaurant and all that next door. There is a nice paved path to take you there. We stayed for a few night over Christmas and it was fairly quiet. You do get peaks of the ocean from the upper spaces but no full views that we could find. The Verizon cell service was nonexistant on the north side of the upper sites, but had two LTE bars on the southern part past the pool. All sites have a fairly level concrete pads and a fire ring. We will definitely be back!

This isn’t a cheap place to camp but it is very well maintained. The pool was warmly heated and there was also a nice hot tub. The bathrooms and showers were the cleanest I’ve ever seen - seemed like the guy was over there every couple hours cleaning! Store is well stocked, especially the market/deli just a short walk over to the cabin area in the canyon. That place served REALLY good food, too. Even BBQ meal kits! They had a band playing for a few hours during the afternoon on New Year’s Eve as well as a happy hour with specials on wine and beer at the deli. There was security after the store closed that ensured quiet hours were kept (they gave an extension from 10PM to 12:15AM for New Year’s Eve). The tent sites were nice with lots of plants between sites to give some privacy. Definitely the most I’ve ever paid for a tent site, but also the most I’ve ever gotten for one.

This is a very nice park. Pool area etc is really nice. Our spot was jus long enough for a 33 ft trailer and truck parked sideways. The trees hide most of the other spots sewer and hose stuff, but they are still close together. The cement pad is partial and missing in one are for a small lip that you can trip on. This is the transition from the pad to the table that is on dirt.
One issue that is annoying is the 101 traffic that is clearly loud. The price is to high for me to come here again. We had no choice due to a meet up we had nearby and maint done in Buellton.
