The Lancer's Cocktail Lounge is one of the last great neighborhood bars left in San Diego. Located on the corner of Park Blvd. and Adams Ave. in the University Heights area of San Diego, Lancer's is the kind of place with a rich history although by looking at it you would never know it. Established in 1963, its current owner Marc "Bubba" Rosenberg, bought the bar in 1978 and has been running the operations ever since. Originally from New York, "Bubba" has been bartending for over 38 years, and comes from a style of tending bar where quality, style and class come first. You won't find energy drink mixers in this bar, except for a strong cup of coffee, and you won't pay exhorborant prices here for a drink either. Sit here long enough with your cocktail, listen to the regulars, both young and old, and you just might overhear stories of guns being shot, knives thrown, to an actual bomb exploding in the bar one New Year's Eve from years past... or the story of where Samuel Autman of the San Diego Union Tribune, wrote an article stating the the bar was going to be shut down and Bubba evicted after a violation of the smoking law in 1999... and every year for the last nine years has received an invitation to the anniversary party (He has still yet to respond in the paper or show up to the party). This is the kind of stuff that makes a neighborhood bar a neighborhood bar. Goldie has been working behind the bar for over 19 years now, and at 84 years, she can still give any unruly customer a run for his money, which adds to the flair and rich history that is Lancer's. We recently underwent some new staff and management changes, and our goal is to serve you quality drinks at very reasonable prices, and make your experience an enjoyable one. We have two pool tables that are busy but never too busy to get a few games on (we also have a weekly pool tournament every Sunday with $3.00 Bloody Mary drink specials), as well as a new internet jukebox with an extended music selection so you can always find and download your favorite music. Don't forget our selection of darts, pinball and video games to keep you entertained as well.
