“A 35-acre zoo”
The San Antonio Zoo is open 365 days a year! We are open rain or shine. Sorry no rain checks. The San Antonio Zoological Society is non-profit organization and home to over 3,500 animals representing 600 species on 34 acres. The Zoo's newest exhibit Africa Live2! is now open. See amazing colobus monkey's, wild hunting dogs, dwarf mongoose, and a walk-through termite mound. Several interactive exhibits include the Butterflies! Caterpillar Flight School – a photographer’s paradise, where hundreds of butterflies flutter around you for that perfect snapshot. Lory Landing, where guests can feed colorful Australian birds, and the Kronkosky’s Tiny Tot Nature Spot, a mini zoo, especially designed for children ages 5 and younger. And, don’t forget to take a train ride on the San Antonio Zoo Eagle – a scale replica of an 1863 steam locomotive. Enjoy a relaxing round trip through Brackenridge Park. All aboard!
San Antonio is probably one of the most tourist-friendly cities in Texas. And as any respectable big city, it has a very nice zoo.
Even though it may not have a wide variety of animals and reptiles, for example there are no giraffes (what a pity, because it is one the animals that children really love), nevertheless it is very pleasant to walk and you will roughly need 2-3 hours. The prices are kinda reasonable, $30 for 2 adults and a child.
If you decide to visit the Zoo, then i would suggest you to pop in to the little train that connects the Zoo with the Japanese Tea Gardens and Kids Adventure Park. Combining all three and you will spend a whole day having fun in well organized and structured environments that are ideal for people of all ages!
We love going to the San Antonio Zoo. The kids love looking at all the different animals we have 5 kids 4-10 yrs and they never get bored. For the past 5yrs we have bought the membership and love it.
The whole family gets to experience and connect with the wild at the San Antonio Zoo.
The zoo sits on 56 acres of manicured grounds and is home to more than 750 animal species.
Build permanent family memories with all-day visits any day of the year. Request up close and personal feedings that will get the kids giggling with joy. Visit the land of Simba and watch the lion cubs play.
The San Antonio Zoo offers inexpensive fun that aids in education and conservation, keeping all animals healthy and safe in their natural habitats for generations to come.
We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in San Antonio with kids!
