The day we traveled, was after several days of rain and the road was full of potholes and deep ruts. We were glad we had 4-wheel drive but luckily didn’t need it. Apparently there is a historic site including Indian mounds approximately 1/4 mile hike from a parking area just prior to entering the camp area. The campsites are dispersed mostly in shade. There was only one person camping when we arrived and were surprised to see a small trailer despite the poor road.
A very short hike takes you down some stairs to a river and a swimming hole complete with rope swing! No toilet, tables, or potable water. If you like it rustic, you will love it.

Wonderful free spot for primitive camping! There is a trail that leads to a 1200 year old Native American burial ground and a beautiful river. I saw a pink flamingo! Quiet and peaceful, only a few other campers who were super friendly. Dirt road going in that might be a little rough for big RVs but smaller ones and campers should be fine. I also have a video review on my youtube channel under the video tab.

I consider this a gem, after too much crowded state park camping or trash-ridden spots elsewhere in the southeast, this place was exactly what we were looking for.
The downsides are a pretty rugged road to get back here, and with the rain it was muddy as a famous guitarist named Waters, but we managed to navigate it all in our 2-wheel drive van. There is very little cell service as well.
Other than that, it’s a beautiful, clean place to camp with trails coming right off of either spot. The site(s) shown in the previous reviewers’ photos are super shady and with low trees covering it all. We camped in the wide open spot not a quarter mile before that area, with plenty of room for an RV of just about any size. Sunshine galore, too. There was absolutely no trash whatsoever, a rarity these days. There was one other camper and otherwise we saw nobody else.
Noseeim type bugs weren’t that bad in November. Lots of hunters and ATVers on the other dirt roads as we left the next morning.

Right when you make the turn from the highway, the road becomes so bumpy, full with small and big holes up until the spot to park.
We are a Class C RV and we figured from the reviews we can do it, we did it , but it was so stressful.
We thought things might break in our RV and thank God nothing did.

When we went there it was quite crowded. People were running generators and you could hear various gun shots very close to the campground.
We have a 26' and 10 feet tall travel trailer and were able to turn around in there but if you have anything bigger I do NOT recommend going down that trail.
The top of the trailer was almost trouching some branches and I ended up taking a loose one with me on the A/C (no damage).
When we got setup, which was a nice spot to be honest, we could not find any service. T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon were not getting anything in this spot. We did not spend the night here so we had to move on to another spot.
