“1890's Victorian in the heart of Sugarhouse”
Modern•Historic - 1890's Victorian in the heart of Sugarhouse and just 4 miles to downtown Salt Lake, SVEA blends historic charm with modern convenience. What better way to take in all of the beauty that Utah offers, than to base your stay here at SVEA. We focus on providing you service that is "Lagom" - not too much, or too little, just right so that your experience is your own. And free of charge, we will add in some dry Swedish humor/sarcasm; our way of making you feel welcome. Svea is a Swedish female name. The name was a very popular girls' name during the first half of the 20th century and today it's rising in popularity again. The name derives from the name of the tribe called "svear or swedes" who came to conquer the land which is today's Sweden. So the meaning of the name Svea is "Swede". Another Swedish word we are very fond of is Lagom. Lagom (pronounced [lah-gom]) is a Swedish word with no direct English equivalent, meaning "just the right amount". The archetypical Swedish proverb "Lagom är bäst", literally "The right amount is best", is translated as "Enough is as good as a feast". This viewpoint is often missed in our hyper-commercialized culture where more is always considered better. Sometimes more is just plain too much.
