Sites are tight but manageable. You most likely will be next to a “full time” resident if you are camping in an RV. The tent sites looked very nice though the river was high while I was there. The tent sites made me want to go back to a tent for a micro second. .
Their claimed WiFi is spotty and unless you have a booster all cell connection is basically non existent. Laundry machines worked great but only 2 washers and 2 dryers reasonably priced.
All in all.. on night for a pump and dump and rinse unless you are in a tent by the river (then I would stay all week)!

It's a little old fashioned, in a good way. Old West motif, located in a narrow valley along a creek. Lots of trees, good hookups, very nice tent camping areas, great field to walk my dogs, friendly staff, decent bathrooms, cute little old West store/office. I met some nice folks here. They have a outdoor group seating area with comfy chairs and firepit. Not used much when I was there probably due to a class 2 fireban in effect and the Covid virus.
Cell coverage was spotty due to the location down in a valley.
Internet was also somewhat limited.
May not be the best layout for really big rigs. I'm towing a 19' trailer.
I would definitely stay here again if I get down this way.

Wanted to see Salida so we stopped here for the day. No cell phone service on Verizon but we enjoyed the silence. Bathrooms were good enough and kept stocked and cleaned. Beautiful trails and right on the river. Really nice staff.

Cute RV park on the river surrounded by hills and trees. Nice shade. All of the hummingbirds, made me feel at home. Very dog friendly. Nice little play area for kids and dogs right by the river. Small RV pads. Good shower facilities and restrooms. Bad Verizon cell service.

Stopped in for one night to dump and top off batteries before going to the next boondocking site. Our 30 ft travel trailer was easy to move around the campground. There were larger rigs parked but some of the turns would be tight for them.
Found the campground to be small and slightly run down. We had no cell signal, which was warned on the website, however the promised WiFi was also inadequate. I attempted to use the WiFi to search AllTrails, Campendium and Amazon and was constantly cut off. Unfortunately we needed the internet access to plan our next stops.
The owner was friendly and at the same time a bit confrontational. We did not use the showers or bathrooms. The water pressure was low and it took about 10 minutes to find the dump site as it was buried under leaves.
It sits next to highway 50 but the road noise was not bad.

We were traveling to spend a few days in Salida and found this camp spot. I am shocked that it has such good reviews. The bathrooms were dirty and there was junk cars and junk trash all over in the back of the campground. The spots were very tight. I definitely would not go back… It is a shame because it is tucked into a beautiful piece of property along the stream that could be so much more

I want to say a bit about this campground. The reviews posted before 2023 are under prior owners. It’s had a lot of upgrades. It’s the best we’ve stayed at in a long while. A new family just took over and this is their first summer. It has everything. Full hookups to tent camping. Full hookup sites are a bit tight but fine. It’s at over 8000 feet and the views are amazing. We can see snow. They have a nice camp store, WiFi that works, golf cart rental, a playground, kids games, a community area (even host occasional concerts) fishing, and a river running through. On site laundry and very clean bathhouse. It’s near a highway but we never found the road noise a problem. Didn’t even notice except an occasional truck using Jake brakes. It all but stopped at night.
Owners are super nice and helpful. And we even saw a moose. The stars are amazing here BTW.
The kids didn’t want to go anywhere they were happy just to hang out here at the campground.

Diamond in the rough -- nice tent and RV spaces with tables and firepits, showers, laundry. Not excited about dog poo left from prior campers, highway noise and piles of stuff around the campground. Friendly hosts/owner. The sound of the river and star watching a bonus. Good value.
