“well-preserved dinosaur fossils”
The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm houses exceptionally well-preserved dinosaur tracks, fossil fish, fossil plants, rare dinosaur remains, invertebrates traces and important sedimentary structures. In 2000, local optometrist Dr. Sheldon Johnson was leveling a hill on his property in St. George, Utah. As he removed layers of sedimentary rock, he encountered a thick level of sandstone. As he tore it up in large blocks, a fantastic object was revealed - a three-dimensionally preserved dinosaur track. It was to be the first of thousands of tracks made by dinosaurs and other animals that have now been recognized or recovered from the numerous layers of sandstone and mudstone that formed almost 200 million years ago on the shores of an ancient lake in the vicinity of St. George.
If you have your dogs with you at a dinosaur exhibit what do you expect workers to do? Don’t put two stars when it doesn’t relate to the place. Goodness.
The kids loved it! Even my teens enjoyed it! Worth the stop. $8/adult. $4/child (up to 16 yrs. old). They have group discounts too!
Great stop, smaller then expected but totally worth it.
Perfect spot for dinosaur lovers and curious children.
This was a good stop. If your into dinosaurs a definite spot to see. The casts of Dino tracks were cool. Kids had fun outside playing in sand.
Cute little stop to take a break but immediately when we walked in, it wasn't welcoming. An old lady stood there upset we had our two English bulldogs with us. When I asked her if there was a spot for our doggies to pee she replied, no dogs?? She didn't seem dog friendly but the website said they welcome them in lobby. When I mentioned that she pointed to two chairs. What they failed to mention is there's two chairs by the door you can sit at with them. Literally, in a tiny corner like we were placed in timeout.
2 stars for us because website regarding pet friendly is misleading. We were confined to the timeout corner with our companions.
I would only recommend this place if your children or smaller and you have no pets traveling with you.
A good reason to stop and stretch your legs and get out of the heat. It was very interesting and my 11yr old loved it.
If you are into dinosaurs, this is the place. Thousands of tracks, visual models, and much more. It is worth the stop.
