Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on September 24, 2021There is an adult park in the area that we usually stay at. However, this trip I wanted very easy access to the American River bike trail right from the RV. This park has that. Check in was fast and easy (my wife loved Mabel the cat). The first area of paved sites slopes too much for my comfort so we opted for the gravel area in the back. How much your jacks have to level you at gravel sites has a lot to do with how much previous rigs have disrupted it, but our site was dead on. Power pedestal was located at a very convenient location for our 37' Class A. I pulled right in, dinghy still attached, everything right where I wanted it. This isn't a park where one sits outside & enjoys the view. The aforementioned, very popular, multi-use trail however, is right here. (Users should check TripAdvisor first. I will suggest that, for safety sake, upon reaching the actual trail, you only proceed to the left, not the right.) A boatload of eateries are an easy drive away. Chick-Fil-A & Cheesecake Factory are just two we patronized. Many very nice parks have periodic issues with bike theft in Ca. Expo now has night time security to address this. Propane is available for delivery to your site. Newspapers can be purchased by the office. There is no store associated with park, but you are in the middle of a big city, not the Sierra. Places abound where supplies can be found. Provided Internet was rather inconsistent. Your GPS will likely take you to the fairgrounds, not the RV park. Suggest you use the address 1010 Hurley. If arriving via Ethan Way, go straight as you approach the address. If on Hurley, turn left at the address.

Definitely one of the "least attractive" spots we've stayed, but we wanted to be close to several access routes and decent eateries, and this fit the bill perfectly.
FHUs with 50 amp on an all asphalt lot. Everything worked well, and the site was fairly level. We were right on top of both our neighbors, and any rig over 38' will need to park their toad elsewhere.
Staff is super friendly and helpful and the park was quiet at night. I didn't see any security staff but we felt safe here. The bike trail to Old Town Sacramento is right out of the park, good eateries and shopping are just blocks away. Easy access to all highways.
Park WiFi worked for us most of the time, although not fast.
GPS will take you to the front of the fairgrounds. From there follow the small blue signs to the RV park on Ethan Way - go all the way to the end.

This is a great spot for an overnight. In the middle of tons of restaurants, etc., easy to access. Friendly staff - we had an issue with our rig and they went above and beyond to help us out. It's basically like a big parking lot with lots of lights and sometimes noise from Cal Expo events, but otherwise quiet.

We came to her once when visiting friends but will be back. Full hook ups, level sites, bathrooms with shower and laundry and easy entry. $45 a night, or $275 per week, or $750 per month. You can only stay 30 days out of 60.

I confess that for years we’ve avoided staying at Cal Expo. We assumed it was just an overpriced parking lot and, while there is some truth to that, if you are visiting Sacramento it is an extremely convenient overpriced parking lot. Camping options are limited close to the city and we’ve tried several, I really wish we’d have given Cal Expo a shot years ago. We will be back.
Sites are full hookup, either paved or gravel depending on which area you are assigned. Sites vary in length, with some pull-throughs long enough to accommodate the largest rigs. No open fires are permitted. There are restrooms, showers and a laundry, but it requires a deposit to get a key and we never bothered. We were thrilled to find a large off-leash dog run with benches, shade trees, and water. Another plus is the close proximity to American River trail for walking and biking.
The park has 24-hour security, with both cameras and frequent patrols. Wifi was excellent! Although it might be a different story if the park was full. And it does fill up! We were here the week before the county fair and it was less than half full, but they had every single spot reserved during the fair.
We had 3 bars of Verizon 4G, but enjoyed the excellent wifi!

This is a great park if you don't really plan on hanging out much. Nothing wrong with it, it's just a giant parking lot and NO shade. It's SUPER clean though, 2-50Amp outlets on each site, really clean and well maintained connections. Super friendly and helpful staff. There's a dog park on site, and the roads are wide open and easy to move around in.

Yeah, we were surprised by the price, but we needed to be in the area that night. It is a big parking lot, but our site was between 2 trees and we had shade most of the day. Nice fenced in dog park with shade trees, grass & water. Laundry facilities only had 2 machines but they were very clean. Did not use the bathroom or showers. The lot is backed up against the Sacramento River levy. Lots of locals use it for walking or jogging. No issues and there are security cameras all around the lot.

We stayed for a few weeks while in Sacramento. The hosts were great, it’s so close to a great biking/walking trail, with flat level sites. It was not crowded (COVID and winter season), but imagine the sites would be tight during busy season. Out of all of the options (we looked at most), this one was the best in the area!

We just wanted a safe place to park for the night as we passed thru Sacramento and this worked out nicely. A few complaints: 1) we arrived at 3:47p but the hosts had already left so we were unable to get a bathroom key; 2) there were plenty of open sites but we were assigned a site that wasn’t level, and; 3) this is a parking lot with lots of very bright street lights. These are all minor issues.
The access was easy, we liked the nice hiking trails and the fairgrounds was hosting a harness race which was fun to watch. All in all we’ll stay again next time we are passing thru.

We stayed here for five days attending to family business. The location being central was great. With good lighting and security patrol, we felt comfortable leaving our trailer there all day. Fairly level sites in the gravel lot, but the asphalt lot was slopeing, not enough to stop anyone from getting level. The staff were wonderful and the park was kept clean. Didn't use any amenities.
Being urban, strong OTA tv and cell of course great.
