Very pleasant home town square. Nice fountain, confederate statue facing south, cannon facing north (of course) and shady places to sit and watch traffic and people. On most days someone might come along to talk to. Some people take picnic lunches there. From the square there are many historical sites that you can walk to.
The only drawback recently is the loud pickup trucks that blast through on a regular basis
