Welcome to Skagit River Resort... The "Loop" is a Loop Once Again! Highway 20 - The North Cascades Highway opened early this year April 16th. Kudos to the Highway Department they got the highway open before fishing season started, just like the old days and the travelers are once again eager to visit the communities along the Cascade Loop. Spring is a colorful time of year to get out and explore the mountains. This last week was our "Eighty" shades of green week...an awesome sight. Tulips and daffodils are in full bloom and folks are having lots of fun at the annual Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley. There are lots of great things to do, while visiting and photographing the flower fields. Balsamroot blossoms are appearing on the mountain trails and hillsides surrounding the Methow and Wenatchee Valleys. And in the Puget Sound, whales begin their annual migration in the Puget Sound. Spring is an exciting time of the year! Tootsie's family accompanied her up to the opening of the North Cascades Highway pass this year again. We took 90 of her cinnamon rolls, and everyone really enjoyed the rolls, coffee and the company. The weather cooperated and the sun peeked thru, and at the top of the pass even a little round of snow flakes. We measured the snow and there was just a little over a pickup in height of snow, thats' the way our family measures the snow up there. We remember when it used to be 2 1/2 to 3 pickups high. Do make plans to come to the Skagit River Resort on your trip over the pass. The cabins are waiting for you. For reservations call 1-800-273-2606. If you want a cinnamon roll just call and reserve it at the Eatery at 1-360-873-2041 just to make sure one is waiting for you and you aren't disappointed when they are all gone.
