We happened upon a fantastic light show and thunder storm with Coyotes singing in the distance. The views are absolutely gorgeous. Its nestled close to the water with tons of fish jumping. Flushable toilets, showers, fire pits and picnic tables. Spacious sites. Bring bug repellant, the mosquitoes are relentless. We absolutely loved this place and will be back again hopefully soon.
Located in the Flaming Gorge Reservoir just 29 miles from Rock Springs is this beautiful little campground with the friendliest camp host, Gordon. Each site has beautiful views of lake, mountains and famous rock formations. Although the campground is in need of some updating it’s wonderful. There are trails throughout out the campground that provide lots of areas to walk and explore. Being in a canyon, don’t expect to have any internet or phone access – enjoy it while you can!

Arrived on a rainy and windy afternoon, so the picnic shelter was much appreciated. Thought we would spend more than a night, but the weather and reservoir being down caused us to move on. The shower was warm enough and the water pressure almost rinsed the soap off....good enough. 10 miles off the Hwy so getting in and out was easy...paved all along the way. Best thing about being in this area was the tour of FlamIng Gorge Dam.

One of our favorite camp grounds. Great parking location with level ground. Isolated from road noise and surrounded by fabulous views. Flush restrooms with showers. No wifi connection.

Beautiful campsite with shaded picnic table and in ground fire pit. A bit tight for taste with all being doubles . Lovely views of Chimney Rock and lake . Rustic but wonderful eye candy 🍭. No WiFi, cell service or tv , no problem ate a book 📖 and tried to get wife to stay another day , but no go , too sunny for her taste with very little shade .
I would stay again , but not my spouse . You know the saying..........

We camped in this campground in a 35' motorhome in early June. We had a very quiet and enjoyable stay. Our motorhome fit perfectly in our double site. The scenery is amazing with beautiful geological formations surrounding the campground. We rode our bikes everyday on the nearby dirt roads leading down to and along the Green River. The only cell service available was in the mornings either down by the boat dock or at the top of the hill above the boat dock where there would be bursts of Verizon LTE up to 4 bars. This allowed us to check our messages each morning. There was no Verizon or ATT service at the campground itself. The boat dock was very busy on Saturday and you could hear engine noise from the boats at the campground most of the day. Access to the campground was via paved roads all the way from I-80. They were all in good condition. No problems for a class A motorhome. Being it was early June, daytime temps were in the 70's. The nighttime temps were cold and in the 40s. We looked in at the bathrooms/showers and they were in very poor/aging condition, but relatively clean. We had a great stay and we will be back!

We stayed for Labor Day weekend and even though the campground was almost full, it was really quiet. The stars were so bright & the nights so cool. The bathhouses need some updating but the roads and sites are well maintained. Watch out for the fire ants in certain areas. The cell service is not really available but we were able to get connected a few times. The views at any of the sites were amazing. It’s a great place to boondock. We would love to stay again in the spring time.

I didn't stay in the fee pay campground up on the hill (FR016), but if you drive down to the beach (FR045, not the fee pay water recreation area, FR016A) you can camp for free on FR045. The roads are not marked with these numbers but there was a laminated map posted at the Firehole Swim Beach sign. There are two beach areas FR045 North and FR045 South. The South side has pit toilets. Being close to the water you need a way to cope with bugs, especially at dusk as it is getting dark. The brisk breeze (wind) during the afternoon keeps the bugs to a minimum, and the early morning cold has them paralyzed. Mid morning when it has warmed up and not enough breeze the bugs are pretty bad--a screen tent would be a plus. [early September] No cell phone signal at all.

They have line both sides of the road with concrete so no room to backup anything over 30 foot. There's no potable water as the water is unsafe to drink.

Stayed here 7/12-14, no reservation needed at that time. Rate is 22 a tonight if you are a national passholder it is $11 this offers you full restroom and water and trash And pavilion with picnic bench. There is free camping down by the lake however camp post told us the park ranger will ticket you. The wind during the day was bruta at camp. Sky at night was amazing and a cool 52. We fished the lake with no luck. There is no cell service But you can find service at RT 33 and 191. I parked at the intersection there is a large turn lane and worked from there. Came in at 2am and saw a LOT of mule deer and antelope, be careful they will run out in road. Showers need to be redone but work. Very quiet place.
