Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 27, 2023Gorgeous state park! Definitely check out the blue hole trail. Twin falls is on the other side of the river and is absolutely amazing. If you’re in the area definitely stop by.
Great hikes to go here are the Twin Falls trail and The Blue Hole trail. Really beautifully gorge and waterfalls.
Make sure you wear sturdy shoes that you won't mind getting wet-- the rocks are sharp, but you'll definitely want to go for a swim :)
This was actually our very first time camping in our Airstream! We met up with a couple other families there and had a great experience! I went for morning hikes in the area that revealed beautiful hike that were not for the weary. Some of the hikes were down some nice hill sides and through water. The main attraction around there is the twins falls! Absolutely beautiful, but a little drive away. I highly recommend it. The wifi there was actually really good!

We stayed here to be close-ish to both Nashville and the Isha Center outside of McMinnville. While it ended up being a bit farther from Nashville than we would have preferred, it was a nice place to stay for a week.
The park is along a river with numerous beaches, picnic areas, and hiking trails. This is a park worth visiting just to see the beauty of it.
The only downside was that there is virtually no cell service and that made getting work done tough. The surrounding towns also don't offer much for coffee shops with good wifi.
We really enjoyed our peaceful stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away!

We love Rock Island State Park, which is located on the Cumberland Plateau in middle Tennessee. The 883 acre park begins at the headwaters of Center Hill Lake at the confluence of the Caney Fork, Collins and Rocky Rivers. The park’s whitewater sections attract freestyle kayakers from around the world. There is also a sand beach and boating access on Center Hill Lake. There are more than 10 miles of hiking/biking trails in the park. Though we have hiked all the trails in the park and our favorite is the Eagle and Blue Hole trail, we were inspired from walks along the Bluff Trail and wrote a story about Spring in Rock Island that you might enjoy. http://twolanesoffreedom.com/rock_island_state_park
The Rock Island campground is located up on the ridge and there are no waterfront sites. But almost every site is well laid out and each offer a bit of privacy. The campground was upgraded a few years ago and all the sites are paved and there are two modern bathhouses with $1 washer/dryers. Wi-fi is included and has worked great all the times we have been here and we do get 2 bars of 4G Verizon too. With booster it goes up to 4. Our favorite sites for larger rigs (35 ft.+) are 1,2,4,5,6,7, 11, 12, 23,24,33-sewer, 34-sewer, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 42, 44, 46. The park has one campground section that is open year-round, which was great for us this March, when all the COE campgrounds and other great Tennessee parks are still closed for the winter.

We had a great time at the small state park. First time out with our new to us camper. Stayed in a “premium spot, so we had sewer onsite. Which was great for getting acquainted with the system since we are new RVers. Very quiet. Super playground.

We stayed in site 1 right next to the camp host.
Pros: Very peaceful site even though the road was right behind us. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Short 15 minute drive to gorgeous waterfalls. The swimming beach is a 5 minute drive. Very friendly lady at the visitor center.
Cons: Camp host was not friendly even though he’s right next to us. Park rangers were not very social either. The site was not cleaned even though we arrived at check in time. Rusted tin can lid right in grass where you step out of the RV. Trash all in the fire ring and all through the site. No one enforcing dogs that weren’t on a leash. Neighbors small dog was attacked by a loose golden retriever.
I would stay here again just allow time to clean up when arriving.

We really enjoyed our stay. Small campground area. Very few sewer sites but does have dump station. We hope to return.
We stayed in site 42. Our truck camper was fairly level once we parked. We enjoyed the recessed area with the picnic table and fire pit. The bath house was clean. Wifi is available.
