Peanut Island Park & Campground is added on our camp list for next year. For now, we only went there to spend the day.
When we arrived with the ferry, we saw a fantastic environment, clean and full of natural beauty. We sunbathed, swam and if my wife would had let me, I would had dived, in order to see myself all these beautiful sea creatures every visitor was talking about at the shore.
There were picnic areas so we sat and enjoyed our food after being exhausted by the hours spent swimming.
Good for families, couples and singles!!
Great to snorkel. Tons of marine life surround the island. Great to stop by if you are a boater. If not then take the ferry from Singer Island.
I went camping her several times as a child. I remember when they used to let people jump off the docks where the ferry brings you now. When the water was calm you could see the stingrays and mantarays swimming at the bottom. I also use to walk around the island. I love all the views, the history of the island is pretty neat. They had the Santa Maria, and the Pinta docked at the island, with reenactments of life on the sea. I recall one point there was pirate day, the camp grounds are really nice with a concrete area for your tent, as well as clean bathrooms with showers available. Although on weekends the swimming area tends to become overcrowded with boats, swimmers, and floats.
