The Football Field OHV Parking Area

Open flat area just east of the 395 is a great place to camp and kickoff your off highway vehicle experience. Plenty of flat spots for camping. Many undeveloped areas and plenty of trails. A good spot for riding to the pinnacles or just going around the the hillside. Close enough to Ridgecrest to run to Walmart for essentials but far enough that the stars are bright. A great place to camp for the night or two weeks.

Arrive during the day unless you RV at the expert level. We’ve camped here many times and access road conditions are always changing. Many choices for level-“ish” spots away from the access road. Watch out for heavily used fire circles - nails and broken glass are common. Holiday weekends are prone to be rowdy, but during off weekends, it can be quiet and you could find yourself a mile from the next circle of RVs. The town of Ridgecrest is a short drive away for fuel, propane, dump, firewood, Walmart, even pizza or a movie.

Dirt bikes, quads, SXS, mild off-road trucks/buggies are in every circle - so don’t come here to avoid them. Lately, it seems that driving off road at night and fireworks have become popular, so don’t even expect quiet evenings on a holiday.

In spite of the warnings above, this is primarily a family friendly spot, with lots of easy trails and terrain to explore.
