Definitely the place to go if you want to experience old-grown forests without feeling rushed or like you're surrounded by people trying to do the same thing. Campsites are private with plenty of trees between you and your closest neighbor, small footpaths connect them to each other and to the large creek that runs alongside the length of the campsite. Fire pits at each campsite but you have to wander a bit into the woods to find any worthwhile firewood. Porta potty was super smelly but better than none! Can't wait to return here on my next trip to the Northwest!

It’s a bit of a drive to get there, but it was worth it. It was quiet, clean and beautifully green. Pit toilets were stocked with tp and surprisingly not smelly. The sites are numbered, spacious and divided by enough trees for privacy. Good for tenting or camper.
There was also a trail nearby. I took the westernly route toward a shelter that was supposedly 3 1/2 miles down the trail. I got about 1 1/2 miles, to a river crossing and found the trail on the other side, but it became thickly overgrown quickly, so I decided to turn back. Maybe I’m a weeny and it got better soon thereafter, but it was fun anyway.

12 miles of gravel road. Takes almost an hour to get there from highway 101. Only for cars, trucks, vans or really small towables. Narrow roads and small spaces. About 12 spaces, each with nice privacy, table and fire ring. Access to river. Pit toilets, pack trash out, no water.
Nice free campground. Enjoyed walking and driving forest service roads to explore. No cell service. Bring entertainment . Great campsite for tent camping, car, truck or vans. My truck & pop up trailer is about as large as I would feel comfortable.

My son and I stayed here the first night of a camping loop around the Olympic Peninsula. After a pleasant ride up the long gravel road we were pleased to find such a quiet and well-kept campground considering the location. Only bummer was that someone forgot to unlock the toilet when exiting and it locked behind them making it unusable. Lots of hiking from the campground for those inclined. Will definitely be back for a longer stay!

DIRECTIONS: FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS NOT YOUR PHONE!! From Hwy 101 turn east onto donkey creek road/NF-22 just north of Humptulips (haha). Follow this road turn left onto FS 2204 and follow it road until you reach the campground. These roads are paved until the last 5ish miles to the campground turns into a nice gravel road. Do not listen to any other directions from your phone. You will end up driving for miles on awful pothole covered dirt roads at 10mph for what feels like forever.
The campground is nice with fire rings, picnic tables and clean bathrooms. Lots of berries (and bear poop!) along the other FS roads if you want to go picking.

A primitive campsite with little amenities and no potable water, but offers solitude and each spot is pretty secluded from the others although there are a couple that are close enough for group camping for a large group. A couple of trails are available to explore around the camp but some do cross the river. The best part? It's free to camp!
